PAID JOB - WANTED (Maya Tutor via Skype) ASAP
Hello...
I am currently looking for someone who is qualified or proficient to tutor in Maya via Skype. Will teach at least one hour a day for 5 days a week. The person to be tutored has little to no experience.
If interested please email me at: mugenjohncel@yahoo.com and include your rate and other details.

You have some experience modeling, at least. I'll help.
I'm going to get off my soap-box now, and let you get back to your day.

Just a suggestion. Why don't you find a real tutor in RL? Or take some private class/crash course? Could be a little more expensive, but worth it. And perhaps you could get certificate too, in case you need one.

I think being tutored for Maya through skype is like trying to rebuild a watch while using winter gloves. It's not impossible, but that would be really hard.
Maybe would it be best if you had a teacher close at hand in case you don't know how to use the software to render the scene in the way you want.
A friend of mine used to play with Blender to learn how to begin modelling, then moved to 3DS max and Maya. The point is, Blender tutorials are quite useful. But you have to be quite patient.

I learn from 3DSMAX to MAYA and then Blender. And find Blender is very hard to learn... or rather the GUI is very confusing...

I suspect that he's already purchased the tool, and wants to know how to use it. I know if I had paid full rate for the likes of Max and Maya, I would get hands on whatever I could for help.
As it is, I have a Student edition that wound up costing in terms of tuition not once but twice. I can Still, however, teach the program the same way I was taught, and the same way that thousands of 3D artists are every day: Online.

Probably not relevant, but I find the best starter 3d modelling progam is Metasequoia.

http://www.metaseq.net/english/
It's not exactly hugely powerful, and the English translation can be a bit iffy, but it's really easy to learn. (I managed to figure out almost all the functions in under a week of fiddling) It's very good for editing pre-existing 3d models, but it's almost unknown.
