Depends on how mean you want an editor. I'm cruel and vicious with the red pens of Death. If you want someone to make nice, then you probably want to use someone else.
I'm going to get off my soap-box now, and let you get back to your day.

Re: Hayzel's Recruitment Thread [9/5]
Have you tried morguefile or stockxchng for backgrounds? Between those two sites you can most likely find what you need. If you need a photo filter-er, I may be able to help (It takes me very little time to create filtered backgrounds haha)

I've never heard of those places before.....the first one sounds scary T-T I'll check them out in a little bit. Thank you for offering to help ^-^ If I need a filter-er I'll be sure to send you a PM ~ I might be a while though. Have to wait for my artist to get done with a few projects~Fawn wrote:Have you tried morguefile or stockxchng for backgrounds? Between those two sites you can most likely find what you need. Re: Hayzel's Recruitment Thread [9/5]
The "Morgue" part refers to an "artist's morgue", which is basically old sketches/unused art; but in morguefile's case it's all photos that photographers didn't want/use that they give away for free. It's completely safe haha
Here's a sample of things you can find with the search engine on there (I searched for "room"): http://www.morguefile.com/archive/brows ... s_all=room
Stockxchng requires you to make a free account with them to download pictures, but it is well worth it. Here's that link: http://www.sxc.hu/

Re: Hayzel's Recruitment Thread [9/5]
Is there a way to make it so there is a night version and day version of something? Like by adding some sort of filter.

Re: Hayzel's Recruitment Thread [9/5]
I think 'morgue' in that instance is borrowed from a 'newspaper morgue' which is where newspapers kept references, old notes and other items of interest. It was a term later borrowed by the comic industry to refer to their collections of reference images. So it is quite a cool word
For Day and Night, you want to use Hue/Saturation and Colour Balance filters.

Re: Hayzel's Recruitment Thread [9/5]
The big difference between Morguefile and Stockxchng is that MF has everything free for all uses, while it's not always the same case with SXC.
Not all of the photos at SXC are ok for all uses. And even when they are, many of the SXC ones require you to contact the photographer and ask permission first, which is not a problem if you just need one pic, but can become terribly time consuming if you need a lot of photos and have to keep track of who responded or not etc.
That's why I prefer MF and other places like ImageAfter.com, where what's been posted there is already free to play with right away.
As for making a day pic look like a night pic, it's possible if you have image-editing software like Photoshop. You can play with the adjustments (mostly the curves and color balance) and do a variety of things to make it look like it's night. Not quite as good as drawing two different pics but it definitely saves time.
Quick example:
before:

after:

This was done mostly just messing with the curves and then adding that light to make it more convincing as a night scene.
