Yeah, but there is a reason I'm doing this with a panda, and it's not for the looks. And in a world of animal-tans, I think everbody should be able to suspend disbelief about a panda as a pet. It's not a plothole if I do the writing

Besides, lordcloudx already did this: I'd hate not to use something that cute.

Sooo... now I see that the BGs are going to be filtered photos? Hmm... I wonder if I can sneak into Petco and take pictures without anyone telling me to leave.

Then it will complicate things again. And not everyone use same BG (even if the BG takes place in same kind of room for example). It would be strange for different MC to have same bed room BG. So rather than adding unnecessary burden, I want to use filtered photos that everyone surely could make/have it.

It's ok to use Panda. Not a big problem, I think... since we do want to use exotic animals.

Oh, okay, if it's filtered photos it's fine... (I just didn't want to have to draw a bunch of new bgs, meep) Though it might be hard for us all to find different BGs, since the free photos are limited unless you take your own. I'd take my own pictures but I live in a very girly house... My room is pink with purple floral curtains and my mom's room is no better ;_;

Also, does every boy live in a different country...? Or are we still going with not mentioning where he lives?

If you know where to look, you could find almost everything. Don't forget to use Google Map/Yahoo World too. They have some nice pics... And if worst come to worst, you could take a picture by yourself using your mobilephone/cell's camera (since it's going to be filtered anyway, picture quality is not important).

About the country, it's up to you (read the back story, the pet adoption center is ... somewhat magical, hehehe). Though it's very advisable not to explicitly mention where the MC live.

As long as it's legal to use them! You have to be careful...
Also, I volunteer to filter backgrounds. It's easy and fun to do (each bg takes me at most a couple minutes) so I would be happy to filter them. I also know how to change the photo from a morning to day to night scene easily, which may help.

Oops... yeah, forget to mention that. BTW, any picture you take yourself will surely legal ^_^ And the filtering will make sure we don't show any protected/registered brand.

That would be very helpful ^_^ Originally I want a person who's good at filtering to share the type and parameter of filter that must be use. But if you want to filter them yourself, that would even better.

Perhaps it's a good time to set some deadline? Not necessarily a final deadline but rather a deadline where everyone must submit a rough sketch of pet/rough plot, or something like that... you know, a milestone in a project.

And I'm just thinking... just thinking out loud... since we're so close to Christmas, why don't we add Christmas-themed to the pet and released the game at December?

Filtering can be complicated, you have to experiment to find the right blur settings and what not every time since photos are always different. I'll try to make some examples of the styles I can produce when I get the time (hopefully this weekend).

Also... Well, I was thinking. Since each boy is different, why don't we just cut out the intro entirely...? the only thing that needs to stay the same is that he sees the magical pet shop. Players can choose what pet story they want (even more so like the Cute and Fluffy project). Also that would allow the writers to have whatever setting they'd like, and have whatever kind of guy they want (college student, rich boy, hikkimori coder, ect.).

Yup. There's no intro at all this time ^_^ Just like I wrote in the first post, the game begin with one person (which is the MC obviously) standing in front of a billboard. Just that...

The extensive explanation about the pet adoption center is there just in case someone need more back-story.

I've asked PyTom to make a new sub-forum for this new Pet Project. After it's ready, you could access it from board index (I need to make some thread and add you guys to the group).

He dubbed this project as Pet Project II: Heavy Petting ^_^ Nice title, huh... unfortunately this project isn't going to use "2" on it. My (wish for) original title is "Pet Project Revived: Moe Love Story", but title can wait...

Oh, sorry! I guess I didn't understand that... Whoops!

Anywho, I was able to get a filter down- It might not look much different zoomed out, but the filters I put on it made it much softer. (this is also the kitchen I'm using for Lucky's story)

@LVUER: Yay subforum! Also... "Pet Project" Would suffice on its own, since it's a saying in english (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/pet_project) it kinda fits, doesn't it?

Still not in the group so I can't see the forum yet. ^^; Anyway, glad to see we're moving along.

@Fawn, I might ask for you to help to filter my BGs sometimes xD I'm not that good with filtering, other than using Photoscape as my shortcut use..

I'm already working on my pet's sprites. So that if I get busy later on, I won't have to worry about the too many works. Now I just need to set up my story properly, find some BGs, makes a few CGs and just need to do another additional character. Suddenly this sounds like a good idea. We'll really see how different people ideas is, and how creative they can be.

Also, about the Christmas, I was planning to adjust my story to be happening around Winter probably, you know, when couples enjoy the snow falling and things *cough*

I've volunteered to filter everyone's bgs (meaning you can give me your bgs and leave basically), so yes I'll do them all if you'd like!
