@sorani, I don't think there's really a problem with submitting similar animals... As I mentioned ferrets are actually very different from hamsters(and mice), they are a weasel-like creature, so they're not that similar anyways. Mice and hamsters are very similar though.

What about Guinea pig-tan or Parrot-tan? Or even Python-tan... Also I'm suprised people aren't submitting more dog/cat-tans, there's so many breeds of dogs and cats to experiment with!

Although there are plenty variant/breed of dog and cat (and so other animals), it's still a dog (or a cat). I don't think it's a good idea to have several breed of one animal, especially in the story that want to feature variety kind of animals.

I think having ferret and hamster at the same time is OK, but mouse isn't (since there's already hamster). Btw, right now I'm in the middle of sketching Mantis-tan (Prying Mantis)... though I don't think anyone would take Mantis as a pet?

Anyway, another update in the first post. Updating the member list. We're getting more and more member ^_^ We could either closed down the recruitment soon OR keep accepting but there's a risk several pet won't make it into the game.

Oh, and for people who only sketch but haven't think about the story, you could PM the people under writer list (like KomiTsuku and Taleweaver).

You're right haha xD Hmm.. A mantis... Why not a tarantula? those are the only insects I know to be kept as pets.

Peacock-tan is a bit odd too, just to be honest with you- I've never heard of them being kept as pets. Not to mention only male peacocks have the bright coloring (read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peafowl Females are brown and white only :( )

What about Parakeet-tan instead? They're really cute birds! Just look at their widdle chubby fluffy adorable pinkness:

It's because there's something interesting with mantis personality ^_^ And yes, I've thought about that peacock too (where the male is the beautiful one but hoping readers would just ignore it anyway... but no luck huh, since you noticed). Some people do pet peacocks, but eventually it's banned since peacock is an endangered species...

What a coicindence o_O I was also thinking to make parakeet... but eventually abandoned the idea since I can't find interesting story to develop with a parakeet.

Guess I'll go with mantis or frog... or if I could think of another pet... Hmmmm...

Parakeets can be vain and tsun-tsun too though :P The ones I've known are quite feisty until they get used to you. Your design would still fit, just make her pink... or blue... or yellow... parakeets have so many cute colors!

Your frog-tan would be adorable :) Lolifrog~~

I've been stalking this for quite a while now, and I'm debating with myself if I have the time to participate or not.
And I actually do.
So, if I'm still allowed... I'd like to offer my services as a writer. ^_^;
I hope that didn't sound too formal, and I hope an artist will want me on an artist-writer combo.

Sure, why not ^_^ You could take a look at the artist list that still doesn't have any writer/story (at first post).

By the way, writers, if you're having trouble finding an artist by have a description of your character, I can make concept arts for you :) But I'll already have my hands full with ferret-tan and Iguana-tan so I most likely won't be able to do all the art for you >^<;

If writer doesn't like existing story-less pet, please contact/PM artist that still doesn't have story. And also I do hope that artist want to be considerate and change the pet design to accommodate writer request.

Dude, if this were a nakige I can think of the saddest pet ever: the Featherduster Parakeet.

From oddanimals.com:
In general, the feathers stop growing after they have reached their natural length. But in feather duster budgerigars, they continuously grow and grow. Some birds also suffer from excessive claw and beak growth. Because the formation of feathers, claws and beak requires a large amount of minerals and micro elements, the unnatural growth exhausts the bird’s organism. Most feather dusters have a damaged immune system and their life expectancy is quite low: Nearly all of these birds die before they get one year old.

This one is also good material for moe (and little bit of comedy) story... but minus the sort life since yeah, this is not a nakige.

I think I'm going to use this if you don't mind, Sapphi.

@Sappi: oh god poor thing :( I bet it would make for moe though if it was like one of those girls who always has something covering her face...
And also I do hope that artist want to be considerate and change the pet design to accommodate writer request
Good point. In general, we should be honest with eachother about not liking designs or flaws we see (but still being polite while doing so!) I know from experience that an artist should be open to suggestions from non-artists... a lot of the time they're right!

@ LVUER: Fine with me... I love featherduster parakeets, and people with hair in their face. :P

@ Fawn: I agree... to an extent... (if I'm writing German Sheppy's story, SHE KEEPS THE GLASSES  ) But yeah, I think we should all try to do our best.

A couple questions about the story, before I start trying to plan it...

Can we agree on the main character? Does he have a face/name, or does the player determine that? Does he have a job, or go to college, or what? (This would help me determine what kind of interactions happen.)

I'll attempt to submit an outline for German Shepherd girl when I get the chance.

My feather-duster parakeet won't look sad like that though... it will be cute and moe >_< Expect some comedic events (actually, Mantis-tan also designed with comedy in mind, unlike Peacock-tan and Frog-tan).

Well, I could change Peacock-tan design a bit and easily change it into feather-duster parakeet.

For the MC, I'll make a design of him. I'll post it here this afternoon.

The basis of the story originally is that the main character is a young man (probably early 20's) who works online. He just started living in a house/condo that allows pets, and he really wants one. However he's allergic to almost all animals, so he searches online for non-allergenic pets he could buy.
He finds a website offering "free trials" of their genetically engineered allergy-free pets, and decides to order one (which is where you make a decision on what pet's story you'll follow). The next day a large box appears on his doorstep, containing his pet, and it goes from there.

Other parts of the story is that he has a friend who owns a small restaurant and is a great chef (I don't remember how we came up with that, honestly); and of course that the pet girls were all created by a mad scientist who wants to sell them at a high price.

That's about all I remember... I honestly think we should make him name-able at least, but give him a face!
