Character artist needed [paid]

#1 Post by psy_wombats » Sat Oct 29, 2011 6:32 pm

Hey,

I'm currently working on a visual novel project (Project Snowbound, no real name for now) and I'm looking to commission/recruit/work with/hire someone to cover the artistic side of things. Most of the work would be making character portraits. If you're interested in background art or CG, that's a plus. There's about a dozen characters total, and none of them have any sort of physical description or character art. I'd really love to have someone talented in character design, not just illustration.

Current game information is located here: http://www.wombatrpgs.net/snowbound.php. Synopsis, character roster, and some sample script are all there, so I won't bother typing it all out again; this is recruitment, not an ad. Right now the game's about halfway written and halfway creatively matured. Characters are set and scenario is pretty well-planned, and there's an 80,000 word script so far, but there's still a lot open. I have no visual style in mind, and I'd also be glad to have someone to bounce ideas off for a few finer story points. Ideally, I would been making this topic at the very beginning of the project, but somehow, it never really happened... If you need a writing sample, there's always The LCPANES Terminal, an interactive fiction piece I wrote earlier this year.

As for compensation... I'm expecting to probably just pay up front per portrait, but there are a lot of options. If all goes well, there will be a paid mobile release and royalties should be expected. If I were recruiting a year ago, I probably would've just put up 50/50 revenue no commission, but at this point I realize that's not very feasible. What I'd really want is a partner in the project more than a hired hand, with the possibility of working on future projects. The payment details could be worked out depending on what you'd be up for and your experience/time commitment. (I'm not trying to stiff anyone here; I believe in putting out good money for good work, especially when the final product is marketable)

This is not another vaporware game, and I'm very particular about actually completing projects. There's a list of previous work over on my RMN profile (http://rpgmaker.net/users/psy_wombats/games/) and apart from those 10 finished games, there's also a one Flash and two Android games. About half of those were collaborative pieces, either with artists or a full team.

Anyway, if you'd be interested, post, send me a PM, or I'm psywombats on AIM. Looking forward to hearing from some of you.

Interesting... is there any specific details about your project(s)...? I am a character designer most often... but I think you need to establish what people are working on/about it. However I am interested, given the full information so I'm not just jumping into a random spot or a random project.
