Greetings,

I am a Freelance Illustrator and Web Developer.
You can view my works on my web site http://www.dennispulido.com and http://haven9270.deviantart.com.

I am proficient in graphics programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Manga Studio
My illustration experience include my artwork being included in Sega's Phantasy Star Portable 2 ("Memoir of a Legend" - 2010), Udon Entertainment's Mega Man Tribute (page 182 - 2011), and one of the finalist entries in Tokyopop's Rising Stars of Manga in 2008 ("Soda Pop") which caught the attention of Italian anime magazine Mangaijin and translated it for their book.

I was also the main artist for a visual novel project that was cancelled due to the lead writer and lead programmer leaving the group. Me and my 3D modeller friend kept working on the project - completing various concept artworks, and even writing the stories (completing around 3 routes out of the planned 4) ourselves until we finally decided to pull the plug last year. However, we still consider the project as "on hiatus" so I can't share the concept artworks in public just yet (UPDATE: My friend gave me the go signal to share some of our VN's artworks - see later post).

I have been a gamer since the NES era. My experience with the visual novel genre are Snatcher, Policenauts, Yu-No (my personal favorite), and currently Katawa Shoujo. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Interactive Media which is half graphic design and multimedia development which is mostly web.

Speaking of my experience as a web developer, I have more than a year of experience in web programming, and while I have no experience in languages for gaming such as C++, I understand the programming logic enough that I can speak with the programmers directly. I have experience in PHP, JavaScript, ActionScript 3, and some experience in Flex (the painting app I have on my web site was built using Flex and ActionScript 3.0). In fact, RenPy has just caught my attention and will start learning soon as the world of Visual Novel development has captivated me that I wish to lend both my illustration and multimedia development skills on Visual Novel projects.

I am currently working as a Graphics Designer for a clothing company, as well as a Freelance Web Developer currently working with a client.

Once again, you can view my works on my web site http://www.dennispulido.com and http://haven9270.deviantart.com.
You can also contact me directly on my work e-mail pulido@dennispulido.com.

If you have questions that I can answer in this thread, feel free to do so.
EDIT: (01/12/2012)

Turns out I left out a very important detail - the payment:

Drawing these illustrations takes up a lot of time (as in A LOT), and from my experience as a comic book artist - very stressful (VERY).
Things need to be done at a good time AND at a good quality.

So I have decided that I would like to be paid for my services if possible, but please do keep reading:

Rate is up to the recruiter, though it will still be up to me whether I accept the offer or not.
If the payment is not until the product sells, then the quality of the business plan has to be convincing, not to mention the quality of the product itself. The reason I'm stressing this is that from this forum alone, everyone can see that there is so much (as in SO MUCH) competition that you can't expect to stand out without a plan of attack. Finishing and releasing a VN alone will not guarantee that it will sell (by "sell" I mean whether it will be popular or not), and I don't think it's fair for the staff to work on a VN for months (or even years like Katawa Shoujo) for the work to just be ignored by the public. That's why we need a solid business plan that will guarantee a huge estimate amount of people who will buy/download and more importantly enjoy the VN.
EDIT: (01/18/2012)
What I'm going to need from you and anyone who desire my service is:
First - the amount and method of payment
Second - how many hours a week you expect me to devote on your project
Third -existing related artworks / concepts that you can share at this point
Fourth - storyline and character details that, again, you can share at this point

If such information are too sensitive, you can PM me.

Thank you very much.

Oh man I'm digging the retro style. Looking forward to seeing what kind of classic-looking games you're going to be making.

Thanks :D

Also, I have no problem with love scenes - I only hate them when they are forced in that the reason in the story as to why they happened are not believable.
The VN project I was involved with was planned to have both All-Ages and Adult version.

UPDATE: My friend gave me the go signal to show some artwork from our cancelled VN project.

The designs shown in this sketch are not the final ones (at least not the latest revisions up until the cancellation). Quite a shame as it had so much potential.

After a considerable amount of poking around, I like what I see. How big a project are you willing to tackle? I have a complete script and most of the code my current project-- Art's been slow and artists a tad flighty. Not going to lie, it's a lot of work, but I'd like to think it'll be worth it.

It's nostalgia just looking at your work!

Good luck, I'm pretty sure you'll be taken...soon ahaha.

I'll wait for details, and make an attempt to swipe off with him myself. I really need the help, and he doesn't seem to be shy about putting in the effort for a good project.

Greetings,
After a considerable amount of poking around, I like what I see. How big a project are you willing to tackle? I have a complete script and most of the code my current project-- Art's been slow and artists a tad flighty. Not going to lie, it's a lot of work, but I'd like to think it'll be worth it.
To answer your question, I am willing to tackle projects of any size provided that I have fully reviewed all the story and design details (and of course agreed to take the job). For big projects, I'm thinking that what we will need to work on first are artworks needed on the demo build. We will need to have a secretary of sorts who will provide a good list of what artworks need to be provided in the order that will let us finish a functional demo build as efficiently as possible (e.g. making do with a single neutral expression sprite per character for the first version). It is a good idea to gauge interest first.

Also, you are going to need a background artist as it's not exactly my strong point. I can sketch out the layout to see where things would go so my character art will blend well with the background art.

UPDATE: 01/18/2012

Thanks everyone again who visit my thread.
I hope you've all read it carefully, especially the one concerning the fees (will update top post in a minute.)

Many thanks.

PM sent. Not all the news is good, but it's better than none at all ;)
