Artist needed

#1 Post by CHEESESLiCE Games » Wed Feb 29, 2012 7:38 am

I need an artist for my Multi-Layered Visual novel. You play as Nanami who gains magic powers as you progress. It will be yuri as well as non-yuri. I will need more help (writers, voice cast, programmers etc) so if you read this I want to do one of them (including the artist) either comment here, email me at iansauber@gmail.com or post on the CHEESESLiCE Games page.

Or just like the page to support CHEESESLiCE Games.

I will be doing the story, programming and some concept art.

Might be an idea to have a little something more to show before you start recruiting a whole team.

I've tried that whole 'lead designer' thing in the past, and it generally doesn't fly. Think of it this way - why would skilled people (even skilled amateurs) help out on a project for nothing when they've got little to no idea what it is, and don't even know if you'll be gone tomorrow or not. Have you any previous games to point to as an example of your style and to show you can finish a project - even demos? If you're a concept artist, post some concept art. If you're a writer, link to some completed work. It'll really help your chances getting a decent team together. Better yet, do as much of the game yourself as you can and just use placeholder graphics, then look for staff with something tangible to show them.

Good luck with the project, I do hope you make a go of it. And sorry if I seem cranky or hostile, I've just made so many of these mistakes myself in the past. It's just that we've all been there, and hindsight's a wonderful thing.

Yeah, your right, I was in a rush at the time.

All I need is an artist right now because I can do story and programming by myself for the time being.

The game is called Infinite Demon Machine. As you can tell it is about Demons. The main chariacter is Nanami; a 16 year old school girl (School unnamed). She lives with her little sister (forgot her name), her little brother Kai (I think), Mum (unnamed) and her Dad (Tetsya).
Her best friends are Nagisa (female, 16), Hikari (female, 16) and Sora (male, 16). Sei, whose age is unknown, is a demon hunter who gives Nanami a book. This is a spell book. It is a like a small sketchbook. As I said it is multi-layered as people might die and that would affect the game.

Also, the artist will need Facebook as I am using a Facebook group for development stuff and you would need Dropbox and if you don't and wnat to apply for this please do not create one because then I can send you an invite and get 25MB of storage.

This is rather interesting. If you need someone in the character designer area, I can tell you I'm interested. Especially. On the female cast... I've been working on other free work, and have been seeking paid commissions.... but I will say it has gained my interest. I plan to make a DeviantArt with examples soon... but for now a set of character drafts I've done are on a current project called FatexHeart (FxH)... but I could very well help in your if I'm interested enough to keep me wanting to design for it long term or not, since its free work.

Or rather, I'm assuming its free work. You may want to clarify on that.

Sorry it took long to reply but I only got the notification about a week ago. I'm thinking of doing a completely different VisNov now. It's about entering parallel world via mirrors. I want it to be ecchi. Message me at iansauber@gmai.com if you are interested.

Start small. Trust Big Bro Blue on this one.

If this is your first project, especially, I'll be blunt: unless you keep things to one or two main characters and keep the story short, your odds of finishing are next to zero. I've seen it and lived it. A project takes dedication.

Start with a small project so you'll have a better chance of succeeding :D
I want you to succeed, not get partially done and frustrated.

I know what your saying. The first game would of been to big to make. This game has either one or two main characters depending on how it's made. Also it's quite short in my head right now and could have a sequel.

Alternate worlds with mirrors? Ecchi? Well that's interesting. Not entirely informative. Keep in mind that most ecchi is either a lot of oversexualized fan service. Or just a lot of fan service or sexual humor in general. I could name a good few examples-- but I'm sure you know a good few of them.
Anyways, if that's what you have planned, then I'm interested. Sounds interesting. Though I'd be much more interested if you had more solid details...

Tsk tsk! As a college student myself, I can't criticize since I've done great and horrible... but you should probably focus on that first and then answer when you have no distractions. Lol XD
But yes...I am interested in it. Though I'd prefer to get the most details possible before I do jump in on it.

I'll give you a quick background story.
The 'PC' is a male 16 year old school student who is bishonen; this is very important to the story. His family move to a new house and he eventually goes in the bathroom and sees a girl in the mirror who looks like him but a girl. They are both shocked. Shiz goes down and he eventually goes through the mirror into that world and stuffs happenz.

Also I need a music guy but I can get one easily, probably.

Ah...okay. Well I can see the alternate reality aspect there. I've never seen this kind of concept before...at least not not in visual novels (the alternate paths thing normally counts for that, but this scenario is entirely different).
Well, I suppose that's enough for a story basis.
I suppose all that's left is whether its paid or not.
Either way I may consider it. I can at least start with
character designs first... but you should make sure my
Character designing style suits your project as well.

I won't be pay because the game will be free. As my course leader said 'How do you make people play a game? Make it free.' Future titles will be paid as I get money to make a budget with a people who know me for making games. Plus, I would need to find a place to sell them.

True enough. Breaking into commercial selling is no easy feat. Lol
Well, you have my interest. If you can use a character designer, I'll be happy to help. But like I said, make sure my style suits your needs. I do follow modern styles of manga, and anime. If I could give an idea, i'm influenced by artists like Noizi Ito, Yoshiyuki Sadomoto, and many other authors of popular manga titles and genres.
