Proofreader Available

#1 Post by Shadow » Fri Apr 06, 2012 3:47 am

Edit: This has slipped off the first few pages and I haven't had any responses, so I'm going to stop checking this. PM me if you're interested.

I'll keep this as short as I can. My goal this year is to work on at least one VN a month, which brings me here.

If you have a VN, KN or dating sim that's close to completion and you want someone to look over your text, send me a message.

I'm fine working on pretty much any genre, any rating, any romantic pairing and with any proficiency in English (though do understand that I may refuse for personal reasons). I'm fine working in Word, Google Docs or in .rpy files. My background is native English, four years of proofreading experience and a degree in Creative Writing.

If you'd like to see how I handle my own writing, feel free to look around my DeviantArt account. I've previously proofread or edited for Analogue: A Hate Story by Christine Love & others, dUpLicity ~Beyond the Lies~ by RoseVeRte, X-Note by Zevia Inc and Soul and Heart by Lumen_Astrum & others as well as a few other projects that have yet to see completion.

Although I am volunteering, I have a few conditions:
  • - I'd prefer to be the only proofreader on your team, or at least one of two. I've spent too much time proofreading for people who have favoured the corrections of others, only to finalise things that are terribly incorrect or badly nuanced. If you don't want to make changes to your script (or won't discuss corrections you're unsure of), please don't take me aboard.

    - I'd like to be taken on for projects that are near completion or at least have the script close to being done.

    - Please be very sure of what you want from me. A proofreader only makes minor corrections to the text as a whole. While they are not the human form of a spell-checker, they are also not a co-writer, editor or personal critic. If you would like me as an editor, feel free to contact me, but realise that there is a higher chance I will refuse to edit as it involves much more time and work.

    - I'm fine with a mention in the credits since I just want to build on my experience and add things to my portfolio.
