New writer in VN world and possible musician [CLOSED]

#1 Post by aeri » Wed Sep 19, 2012 4:52 am

Hi everyone :)

I'm a new writer to the VN world, but I did quite of bit of fan fiction writing in the past 10 years...not so much in the present, but I do give a writing sample that I did today (I wanted to do a new piece since my most recent piece before this was in March...)

As for music, I played piano for 11 years and had violin lessons for four years (that was over 9 years ago, but I'm getting my own violin within the next week), but I have not done any composition before. I don't have any samples right now, but I leave that option open.

Because of my schedule constraints, I'm looking into non-paid positions :)

If you have any questions or would like another particular sample done, just let me know :D

I never felt this sense of wanting—no, needing someone, until I have met this guy.

What’s so special about him anyway? I could tell you over a hundred things bad about him and why he shouldn’t be with me. I could also tell you that he might as well be from another universe.

The funny thing is that many of those “flaws” ended up making him even more attractive.

He’s not exactly the person I imagined to be together with, but for some reason…he made me fall for him. Maybe it was his charisma and he is filled with kindness for others.

Maybe he might be—

Someone covered my eyes and then I heard that voice I knew much too well.

“What were you thinking about?”

I pulled his hands away and muttered, “nothing really.”

He sat next to me and gave me a concerned look.

“You sure it isn’t something I can help with?”

It isn’t really a problem to start with.

“Don’t worry about it. It’s nothing really.”

He was quiet for a moment before saying, “if you say so,” and then proceeds to lean his head onto my shoulder.

He suddenly sighed out of relief.

“So glad that exam is out of the way…one less to worry about this week.”

Welcome to LSF, aeri! I hope you enjoy your stay :3

Reading over your writing sample, it's a bit rough around the edges (occasional instances of strange syntax, grammar slip-ups, etc.) but I can tell what you're trying to express. VNs usually focus more on the dialogue than description anyway. Have you played a few before?
Also, have you tinkered with music composition software? I don't think many people actually record live instruments so it's a good idea to play around with some music programs. Hope to hear from you soon!

Interesting. There are some composers around there already, but usually the instruments are virtual... you seem to be more a performer than a composer, right ?

When you'll have your violin, it'd be good to record some samples to show how it sounds, some composers would probably want to work with you.

Thanks for the recommendations :) maybe it would be better if i wrote in a playscript format instead so it would be more vn-like.

I will try some software out to see what is best for live performances :)

Thanks again for your thoughts!

Are there any particular types of projects you are interested in writing for?

^ I would generally prefer otome since I am a girl, but I don't mind if it isn't.

Something like your signature would be of my interest. I like games that provides some type of learning though not necessary...

I don't have experience with genre like horror but I like school themes or something similar :)

There's always space for another writer. I have to admit, writing is not my strong point, but I'm still doing it.
