Blind Girl Story - Illustrator Needed

#1 Post by SilverKnight121 » Tue Apr 23, 2013 8:08 am

Hello!
I am currently very new, but I have decided to make my first Visual Novel.

Summary:
The summary of this visual novel is about a young girl who is born blind. Her parents died, leaving her a home. One day, when someone knocks on the door and offers her a special task, she can accept it or not. The story is about how the offer changes her life... Forever.
I was going to draw on my own, but I figured I am... Not talented at drawing.
So my offer is: Can someone volunteer to be my illustrator? It would be really nice.

I will give full credit, of course.
And pictures and images are very important to a Visual Novel-- So, please.

I would love it if you could email a test picture--it could be small,--to me at nightsilva02@gmail.com.
I am certain that this project would be awesome with a good illustrator.

Illustrator: ____________
Game App
The illustration of the application icon.
A golden outlined circle, with pale blue in the middle. In the middle, there is also a silver key. A key with a star at the head. Sort of like this picture:
http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/ ... 5ojbxx.jpg

Allia Felloson
Main character.
Allia Felloson has misty gray eyes from being blind, and usually stares off into nowhere. She doesn't blink, too. Her smile is soft and barely showing. She has brown hair that comes to her shoulders, like this picture. Only look at the hair.
http://haircolors2013.us/wp-content/upl ... r-2012.jpg
She also wears blue jeans in the story, and a pale blue jacket with a silver zipper. The jacket has a hoodie. Her skin color is a little tanned. She wears red-purple sneakers. Shoelaces are white.
Need Allia Felloson pictures for frowning, smiling, no expression, sitting down, lying down, in pain, and worried.

Jace McConold
The 'someone' who offers Allia the job.
He wears a pale-green vertical-lined white shirt. He wears a dark green pair of skinny jeans. He has a black leather belt with no special accessories, and there is a silver belt connect thingy. He wears black boots.
Need Jace McConold pictures for frowning, smiling, no expression, sitting down, lying down, in pain, and worried.

Kelli Roe Duncan
The boss of Jace McConold.
Wears a shoulderless orange vertical-striped cotton shirt, long-armed. Wears dark blue jeggings with a golden outline. She also wears a blue-red cap. The main color of the cap blue, and a star in the middle red.
Need Kelli Roe Duncan pictures for frowning, smiling, no expression, sitting down, lying down, in pain, and worried.

Background [1]
Inside Allia's house.
The apartment's walls are one color = white. Looks sort of like this picture here:

The only faults in the picture: There is no rack of wine bottles on the picture. Instead, there is a trash can. And, there is no black weight thing on the kitchen carpet. There is also no bowl of some kind of pet food next to the wind rack. Under the speaker that is next to the sofa, there is no basket.
Need Background [1] pictures for midnight, night, daybreak, afternoon.

The rest will come next time.

First up, welcome to Lemma Soft! :D

Pleasantries aside, for first time recruiters, browsing this thread over -------> HERE
is always a good battle plan. Breaking it down a little though, if you are looking for an artist to work for free, you're most likely gonna have a hard time with the little information you posted. You even spoiler tagged it! D:

Although it's temting to give away as little information as possible (the story has to be a suprise for everyone, of course of course) what you are essentially saying is you have the premise of a story and nothing much else to go on, which will cause a lot of, if not most, artists to walk right by and be on their way.

If you can't give details about the story, how about details about the characters in the story? Since the characters are what the artist will be drawing, it only makes sense that you would try and sell those characters to the artist so they have no choice BUT to draw them for you. Why are they interesting? What sets this apart from the other VN that wants them to draw their art? What style of drawings do you want? Whatever you think the artist might like to know through it up there!

Either way, good luck finding an artist! There are some pretty fab artists floating around so hopefully you can nab one of them! :3

EDIT: This quote sums it up fairly nicely!

Absolutely. A lot of people seem scared that their scripts or concepts are going to get stolen, but that just doesn't happen, in my experience. Developers have enough of their own unfinished ideas lying around to worry about adding another one to the stack. And don't worry about 'spoiling' the story, we're your peers, not your audience.

Remember you're just the latest in a long line of potential recruiters. Anyone who's been around creative forums for more than a little while will have seen more recruitment posts than they can possibly remember. Do everything you can to stand out.

Yeah, I thought about writing the detailed description of the characters and backgrounds, but I thought maybe I could choose an artist first, then sort of maybe email the description to them, but maybe it is a good idea to add the character descriptions. Okay. I'm editing the post now.

AND... Thanks for the response and help.

Hey, do you have a running prototype of your story? I'd like to have a feel for your prose before applying for something. A past work also works for this purpose.

Hmm... This is the first visual novel I'll be creating. I haven't written all of the script yet, and I don't completely understand what you mean by prototype. Do you mean the script, or the visual novel without the pictures?

Either is fine. It's just that anyone can come up with a plot, but fleshing it out and spinning it in proper prose is what really makes a novel, so I'd like to have a concrete feel for how you write to know if it's a project I'd like to get involved in.

"I have a story about a girl with a tragic past, and something unexpected will happen. Please spend hours creating art for me, and I'll allow you to have your name on it somewhere."

Sorry, but this is how your topic reads.
"We must teach them through the tools with which they are comfortable."
The #renpy IRC channel is a great place to chat with other devs. Due to the nature of IRC and timezone differences, people probably won't reply right away.
