..:: Artist For Hire ::..

#1 Post by drowningmermaids » Thu Jun 13, 2013 8:09 pm

Hello! :3c
I'm in a bit of a bad situation at the moment - I have to raise at least $800 to pay my dad back for getting my car fixed after an accident, as well as the general needs of myself, a newly-graduated 18-year-old who's under immense pressure to get a job and really not wanting to work in fast food and/or retail. I'm trying to gain a foothold in this doing-art-for-money thing, since I really do wanna be able to do what I love for a living [asap]. Any and all help is appreciated!

..:: Prices and Examples ::..

Character w/ Name :: $7 ; if you're ordering a group, I'll of course cut you a deal. :]
Image

VN Sprite Set :: $12 [for basic 5 as seen in example]
+$2 for each additional expression
+$3 for altered arm position
+$4 for extra pose
+$7 for each additional outfit w/ expression set [Depending on how complex the outfit is, pricing may go up.]
+$3 for each additional hairstyle w/ expression set [Again, depends on complexity.]
Image

CG Scene [can/will be bigger than example shown] :: Base is $25-$30 for one character and can/will go up depending on how detailed.
+$10 for each additional character involved. [If it's a scene that involves a crowd, the crowd will only count as one extra.]
Image

[Also, note that while I've used relatively thick lines in my examples, that's only because it's my default when drawing, and the line width can be changed as desired. :3]

I'm not looking for an artist for hire, but I like your style and I hope you get hired (: I'd love to see your art in a VN. I have just one suggestion--maybe you can put up a link to your dA or a site where you have more of your art put up?

Again, wishing you good luck in this venture (:

I don't want to be harsh man, and you probably already are making studies on the side, but i highly recommend you to tighten your fundamentals if you intend to make 800$+ from your art. I would recommend you to try to find a way to practice/study something like... Hmm, 4 to 8 hours a day maybe? That's how the pros do it i think. Even if life doesn't allow you to dedicate that much time into studies, at least a couple hours a day will eventually make a noticeable difference.

I draw for at least 4 or 5 hours, if not more, nearly every day, and I do not expect to make the money asap - it's a goal that I hope to reach, however long it takes and through whatever outlets I use to raise funds.
I am constantly striving to improve, but seeing as a lot of VNs are anime-oriented, I've used this style for my services on here. I use a different style for a gig on Fiverr, and I draw normally in a more realistic way during my study/down time.

Dream probably didn't get the chance to look at your dA... Your work there isn't restricted to just this style--it's very diverse. (That's why I suggested you add your dA... so people could get a feel of your work/see what you're capable of drawing). (: Again--good luck with getting hired. I really like your stuff.

Yeah I thoughts as much too, which is why looking back, I probably sound a bit upset in my reply to them. XD Thanks so much for the support!
