Need personal art requester (I do the art free!)
Hello. As many of you know, I commission people to make art for me all the time. But because it's getting expensive, I want to learn how to make my own sprites/backgrounds/CGs/etc...
The only problem is I suck at drawing/coloring! Take a look at the horror! :
http://secretblj.deviantart.com/art/Red ... -409862313
Which is why I need someone's help! For you see, even though that sucked, it was a major improvement on my part! The reason was someone was counting on me to make it good, so I could not fail or else I would feel bad!
So I need someone to give me requests such as these and fair deadlines :
"Make this sprite! It looks like :
Name :
Looks:
Age:
Personality :
Emotions :
Clothes:
Poses:"
or :
"Make this background! It is like :
What type :
Time:
Variations (if any) :"
Here is a small FAQ :
"Why don't you just make a game with your art to get better?"
Because I am not fast enough yet and my style is constantly changing. You would NOT believe how long it took to make the horrible picture.
"Well, why don't you join a project? You can join without leaving your group!"
Same reason as above.
"Well....What does the requester get in exchange?"
They can use the sprites/backgrounds/CGs for anything! Even sell them (although nobody would buy such suck-ie art!)

Actually, the real question is why can't you actually learn how to make your own sprites/backgrounds/CGs etc by actually reading or watching tutorials about the basics of drawing and such? We have so many resources in the Art Resources thread that you can browse through. The reasons why your art is extremely amateurish is because you don't actually seem to be learning how to draw, you just want to jump in and hope you can end up with an adequate result. Which you can do on your own time, but I don't think trying to offer people your level of skill right now and hope to improve from there is a good idea.
Even if people requested art from you and gave you the specifics you want laid out, it won't change how your drawing looks right now. You didn't practice and experiment with any techniques that would actually take your art somewhere.

Well, MaiMai has a point, but as someone who has also tried to learn to draw in the past, I know you can lose motivation on your own really fast. (why does that rhyme? there's no need to...) That's when you start asking yourself, why am I even doing this, no one will even look at it, and so on. Having someone to actually request something helps with not only getting ideas and specifics, but also in having a solid goal, the feeling that at least someone will have a look at it.
So, yea... If you do both things suggested, (get information and get a supporter) it might just work out, though it's still a question of just how motivated you are.

Why not start by looking at anime or something like that and do fan art for it.
That way you could show it and get people to give you pointers on what you could improve on.
Just a tip

It's christmas time, so for my amusement, draw me a girl in a santa themed miniskirt playing a ukelele, while riding a unicycle.
Name : Agent Zelda #234, North Pole Infiltration Unit, Rank C
Looks: Green hair, I dig green hair. Pale skin-tone, and bright golden eyes, to force you to draw the iris.
Age: 18-24
Personality : Bubbly.
Emotions : Xmas cheer
Clothes: Xmas themed skirt.
Poses: 3/4 perspective view, upper body is standard ukelele playing pose, lower body is riding a unicycle.
There is no deadline, but your total time spent should not exceed 16 hours. Eating, sleeping, video games, etc do not count towards the time limit.

err...random question, are you using a mouse to draw? unless you're doing vector art, i wouldn't suggest using a mouse. even then it's not as good as using a tablet imo. you might want to consider doing your art on paper and just scan it
