Nice to meet you from Japan. This is Daisuke Muraoka from Nash Music Library. I'm working for a background music library in Japan specializing in J-pop style anime and visual novel style music
I'm wondering why we have many customers domestically, but not that many in terms of abroad?
What kind of music are you using for your content?
Here's a sample Link to our music:

I appreciate it if you take the time to try the music (: Whatever feedback regarding the music, I'd appreciate it also
Thank you,
Daisuke Muraoka (Nash Music Library)

Interesting question! I've always gotten musicians on my team to develop soundtracks for our game, rather than using songs that were already written. That's just how I was taught at college, and I usually have enough musician friends that it isn't too hard.

Ooh! These are nice!
I'm guessing that for novice independent visual novel makers, the price is still too steep for royalty music, that's why this music library haven't tapped this market overseas.
Although Nash is not expensive as the others and the quality is really good, hiring a musician will not only bring the game original music, but it's also cheaper. In some way. Especially if there'll be a lot of music in the game, and they know the musicians... AND, also there's a lot of competitors outside Japan who also has great quality music that you can get for lower price or for free.
But then there's also, maybe it wasn't promoted that much internationally yet.
I'll keep the site bookmarked for future projects though. I really like them.

As one of the bigger groups who mainly licenses their music, I must say that I do like the selection and pricing. I think the three biggest things that might impact your international numbers is that I've never heard of your website before now, the lack of developers with a budget, and EVNs trying to form their own identity. I've been trying to move away from the usual JPop styling myself, and the rather stellar response I've received from the soundtrack is only going to strengthen that move for me. But you also have a rather strong selection overall, so... I'd mainly say the lack of advertising on the English scene and finances of the english scene.

I'm really excited by this. A lot of the tracks has a distinctive Japanese flavour that I have been looking for, and I think the prices are very affordable. Knowing exactly how much each track will cost beforehand makes budgeting much easier.
"We must teach them through the tools with which they are comfortable."
The #renpy IRC channel is a great place to chat with other devs. Due to the nature of IRC and timezone differences, people probably won't reply right away.
If you'd like to view or use any code from my VN PM me. All code is freely available without restriction, but also without warranty or (much) support.

A lifetime license for a track cost anywhere like $21 or $35. Having worked with a musician once before trying to emulate a Japanese feel, you can't go wrong with actual Japanese musicians.
I also could have sworn GUST may have used some of their sound engineers. Really getting Atelier / Ar Tonelico vibes from a few of their tracks.
