Looking for visual novel character sprite artist

#1 Post by DrSprinkles »

Looking for a computer graphic artist to design and create the character sprites for the up coming visual novel "Clockwork".
What is a visual novel? - it is a computer game I'm which the player takes the role of the leading character and engages in dialogue based experiences with other characters, similar to reading a picture book. Visual novels are also interactive, the choices you make can influence outcomes later on the game. they are viewed from a 2 d perspective where there is a background image/scene, and on top of that there are character sprites that represent each character. the game is played in first person so all of the characters will be. looking at and talking to you ( you do not see your character)
Description: need help making approximately 4-6 characters characters will be 2d and follow a traditional anime/manga style japanese look as found in all visual novels -characters will need to be drawn from the knees up to about an inch above the head (a text box will cover the rest of the legs) - so far we have info on 3 female characters that will be need to be drawn -Each character will need to be drawn standing still and looking straight forward as if looking right at you - each character will need to have several faces to depict different emotions( normal, happy, sad, embarrassed, angry,etc..)----this can be done by using the same body for each emotion, and just replacing the face - the characters will need to follow the character template provided - the artist will need to be able to draw both male and female characters - as for sexual content/nudity, we understand this is a fragile topic, so please let us know if you are not comfortable drawing that and we will remove that from the script - the character design must have smooth textures and use decent shading, for examples, look at "Clannad" or click on this link: http://vndb.org
- the characters will need to be surrounded by a transparent background - all characters must be drawn on the the computer
If you are interested in helping with this, send an application to drschprinkles@gmail.com -application format- --First and Last name (or username if need be) --experience --mature content (nudity) ok? not ok? --drawing program/s that you use --work speed ( approx how long it will take for you to make each character)(we are patient) --are you capable of drawing both male and female characters? --and please attach any sample work of character art that you have personally created--- 1-3 pictures is good --lastly, add any questions you may have
for further info on the visual novel, please view clockworkVN on tumbler

Just a heads up, you will need to provide information on your project to generate interest.

By the way, we know what VNs are. It's what we do.

The #renpy IRC channel is a great place to chat with other devs. Due to the nature of IRC and timezone differences, people probably won't reply right away.

If you'd like to view or use any code from my VN PM me. All code is freely available without restriction, but also without warranty or (much) support.

I think you missed the point. It's up to you to make your project attractive enough that people will want to join, and make the information on what your project is easy to access.

This is covered more eloquently in the recruitment forum rules: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 38&t=22143

Okay!

One, go have a look around the site, maybe get to know the people on here a little :)
Two, get rid of the 'what is a visual novel' section, pretty much everyone on here know's what they are.
Three, try and make it so it's not just one huuuuge block of text, it's difficult to read.
Four, give us a 'blub' or sorts for the story, nothing to spoilerific, just a general overview.
Five, tell us how many charatcers there are. what they are like, how many expersions you need for each ect. This will give us a view of how much work you want doing.
Six, maybe show us some refences of the sort of art you are looking for.
Seven, and lastly, tell us if this will be a paided postion.
Pronouns: They/them or He/him
