Forget I ever asked, thank you for your concerns. I will have to look else where.

While we don't have any rules against fangames, I personally wouldn't recommend making one. Some legal departments are quick with the cease and desists.

I must say, the style you created( you drew that right?) looks stunning and similar to the tv series I used to watch haha.
good job on the style.

@erikB actually i didn't draw that, but one of the members of my group that is currently helping me with the scripting to the best we can is the main artist of the game.
@fate-san Okay pm and lets see what you can do for scripting?
@Taleweaver I know, which is why we aren't making any profit from this. We will be sure to put disclaimers and credits. But this is purely a fan game, in essence a kind of revival of a show that everyone loves. Thanks for the warning though. Believe me, one of my members know very well about the copyright stuff.

I hate to rain on your parade, but what Taleweaver is talking about isn't about money. It won't matter that you're not making money on the game---it's still copyright infringement, and no number of disclaimers and credits will protect you from a cease-and-desist order should you receive one.

I've learned my lesson in that department with my attempted sequel to Juniper's knot, which is paused (most likely for all eternity)

Well, you can try, and if they don't pull it down, then awesome! I hope it does well!

That said, they might not mind, but they could do.

But so long as you don't make any money from it, it -shouldn't- be a problem (unless you suddenly try to make it commercial, in which case, refer to Omniknight). Depends on the stance the original developers have.

I'd like to thank you all personally for trying to help us out with the copyright situation. We know that doing a fan type game will possibly cause some legal issues somewhere but we have someone knowledgeable of such things to help us out.

We've gone over with him about certain things and he has decided to help us with these legal issues. All the content within the game is copyrighted to it's multiple artists, as there are multiple working on this game. Since there was never a season 4 of the show, technically the designs we do for the "canon" characters belong to us and solely us. The names may be copyrighted but the designs however are not. As for the rest of the bachelorettes, each of us are drawing new characters (OCs if you will) that belong to us. Designs and all. They have nothing to do with the actual Danny Phantom show, and since none of us are entirely dependent on the show's style, I believe our versions are copyrighted to us.

The backgrounds as well were made by one of our artists in Photoshop, and technically belong to her.

We are making this fangame for the Danny Phantom community, to which we will be taking no profit because of the fact it IS a show copyrighted by Butch Hartman and Nickelodeon.

Again we thank you for your concern, but we are continuing this project with the help of someone that could show us how to avoid copyright infringement. All we really need now are writers and coders to help us with the game. If anyone would be so willing to. But for now we are not worried about the legal issues until we get clarification back from our helper.

It would help even more if we had certain people who know the show as much as we and could help script events, as in what the character would do in the situation. This excludes original characters though.

This is the reason why you risk receiving a cease-and-desist order. The canon character concepts are as much Nickelodeon's property as their designs.

If you're adamant about this, the least you could do is receive a license from the owners of Danny Phantom first. Of course, they have no obligation to grant such a request.

Again yes we realize this. We are currently getting help from people with corporate experience, ones who understand copyright issues to almost a T. Thanks for the link, I will thoroughly read it.
