[Recruiting] Stigma VN - Artist needed!

#1 Post by mizura » Wed Aug 04, 2010 9:23 pm

Hello!
I’ve been kind of working on and off trying to figure out how to get a visual novel going, and as I continued through several scripts, I realized--
Visual novel = Artwork
+ gasp I can’t draw ._.;;;

Long story short, I’m finally going to stop hiding behind my lack of ability of drawing to get my darn project(s) finished or at least partially presentable. If there is anyone who is willing to offer some assistance in the drawing area, I would greatly appreciate it <3

[I actually have several VN scripts in progress that need artists, so even if the below doesn’t seem like the type of idea you may be interested in, if you’re an available artist please please please PM me so I can try and persuade you to help me with something else? XD; My other WIPs are mostly light-hearted GxB stuff, really, so this is a complete change in genre.]

Stigma is dark, bloody, and possibly somewhat disturbing, but it is not 18+. It plays through strictly as a visual novel (ie - no RPG elements). Depending on route and how you view it, it can be slightly BxG. It might be closest to a “choose your own adventure” novel kind of thing. Expect a lot of unfortunate things to happen. Save often.

Story Summary:
3 years ago, protagonist was in a car crash, fell into a coma, and barely woke up. No thanks to the event, his memory’s a little shaky, and he doesn’t remember what happened the couple of years before. One of his close friends and neighbor, Adara, comes to visit him with a strange pack, saying that it’s the only thing that survived the crash along with him, and she’d kept it safe until his recovery. The contents shift them into an alternate reality, only known as Stigma, where they meet the Redriff brothers, 2 young men who’ve apparently been researching the place along with protagonist years ago. The two of them are able to transport people back and forth from Stigma, so they know there’s a way out. With good timing, the Redriff brothers have invited a group of people for a little get-together, and convinces the two to join in the celebrations.
All seems to be well until one of the Redriff brothers is murdered, blocking their ability to return to Earth--at least until the protagonist can regain enough of his memory to remember his research. Every night after his murder, one more person in the house dies. The protagonist struggles with his memory problems the whole time, realizing that it might be his fault that the murders are occurring in the first place.
You take control of the protagonist, pairing up with any of the surviving members of the household in hopes of escaping Stigma and its string of murders before it’s too late...

Notable Characters: (short summaries to avoid spoilers)

Name: Adara Plantiff, earthling
She’s a stereotypically random heroine character. She seems to be interested in hieroglyphics. Knows protagonist for the longest time (she’s his neighbor). She had a sister, who she was very close to until...

Name: Simon Redriff, earthling
He’s the more serious of the two brothers. He takes care of all the vital work around the house while his brother plays on the computer and downloads porn. lol. He’s quite an endearing hard-worker but seems a little distant toward protagonist...

Name: Samuel Redriff, earthling
He’s the less serious of the two brothers. He used to be one of protagonist’s best friends and partners at the workplace. He’s also one of the few people who know about protagonist and his brother’s rivalry...

Name: Magenta Lotta, vampire
She’s friendly with the Redriff brothers, and is one of the few characters who’ve really never met protagonist before. She’s heard rumors, though, and she takes quite an interest in him...

Name: Demi Shiratane, unclassified
Hyper bubbly bimbo character. Loves to eat, and any vocabulary that she doesn’t know is automatically assumed to be some sort of food. Is Luka’s younger twin sister. Has no idea who protagonist is, but Simon says they’ve met fairly recently...

Name: Luka Shiratane, unclassified
General i-hate-life character. Overprotective of his sister Demi. Seems to have a grudge against protagonist, but protagonist doesn’t understand why...

Name: Constable Howard, earthling
He’s one of the more reasonable characters. Intellectual and is one of the first to realize that there’s a murderer in the house...

Name: Yong Li, earthling
Like Constable, he’s decided to ditch Earth for an alternate place of living. back when he was on Earth, he was a mechanic, so he busies himself with fixing things and analysis. When the murders begin, he wants to be the one to find the culprit...

Name: Tiffany Michagin, unclassified
She’s very meek but has psychic powers. Once the murderer finds that out, she has to be one of the first to get rid of before she exposes them...

Name: Saleph Stipha, demon
She’s a little toned down in comparison to her flashy looks. Her magic is based on luck, so she gambles a lot. She speaks with a weird accent, adding “za” at the end of each sentence. She’s not an earthling, so she seems to hold an interest in the protagonist’s movements...

Name: Seth Frath, unclassified
He has a habit of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Framed for as the murderer several times, the only way he can truly prove himself innocent is by dying...

Name: Lodune Deckan, unclassified
He’s one of the first to break under pressure, and tends to blame people quickly to get out of suspicious territory. He’s very emotional, and starts becoming delusional...

I’m maybe about 60% done with the actual writing of the script, because I’m missing 2 end routes as of now, but I have a summary of what's going to happen regardless. (Just needs to be put into script form~)

As I don’t really have anything visually to show here, I’m kind of wary about the posting guidelines, so if I need to move this message somewhere else please let me know.

Thanks for your time~

Your project sounds really interesting, I want to know more xD
I wouldn't mind drawing for it and having the extra chance to practice on my art skills.I have to scan in my artwork since most of my drawings are sketches so it might take a day for me to gather my artwork to show you >_< Scanning in art takes so long since I do a whole bunch all at once.
I do have some examples up here http://kiwi-fox.livejournal.com/
I have a deviantart too but it's mostly doodles http://kiwi-koala.deviantart.com/

I'm also about to start school soon so I can't draw too much at one time. But it shouldn't be too much of a problem since it's my last year of high shool and I already took most of my hard classes.
