Composer available for your project!
[INTRODUCTION]
I'm a composer looking for some work scoring indie games. What sets me apart? A passion for, dedication to, and nearly encyclopedic knowledge of music in games. I grew up with this stuff. Game music is actually what led me to becoming a composer in the first place. Now I'm ready for a lifetime of paying back that inspiration.
[MUSIC]
Demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSvDswwwzTQ
My official site is currently undergoing construction, so I've uploaded a 10-minute music sample to youtube. In case you're looking for a style not represented in the demo, let me know and I'll come up with a sample for you.
My philosophy about game music: a game's music needs to sound like it belongs where it is. Music that just drones away in the background like a pre-programmed component is NOT the way game soundtracks should be. The best game music is apart of its respective game world, not a mere decoration in it. The writing, the art, the music, the sound, the direction--it's all meant to work together to create a focused narrative for the player.
[COMPENSATION?]
I would love to work on your project for free. I would only expect compensation if your project has commercial aspirations.
[CONTACT & OTHER INFO]
You can shoot me a PM here, post in this thread, or use the email in my profile.
If you're interested in my music, but aren't quite sure, let me compose a sample piece of music for you according to your specifications. It will be yours to use, even if it doesn't fit your needs.
I look forward to your replies, and am grateful for a forum like this. I have my own aspirations about eventually producing a ren'py visual novel, and hopefully during my composing ventures I can make some contacts. Especially for art! I already have a story outline, characters, and plan to do the scripting and music myself, but I won't even attempt to produce my own visuals.

I love the sound of your music. Right now I'm just using my own stuff (yes, I compose as well) and freebie music. Can you do horror themed music? At any rate, I'd love to team up sometime. I'm also available to help with your projects, so drop me a line.
Edit--Just heard "Omen" and I love it. I'll PM you.

Nice demo. The Sound of Snow appealed to me.
I could see the Earth Cradle theme as a nice outdoor field theme when you travel in an RPG. XD
I'm sure someone will snatch you up soon.
Do you play on a midi keyboard controller or do you just enter notes on the computer?

Re: Composer available for your project!
Thank you for the replies and encouraging words! And thanks to everyone who sent a PM--I will reply shortly.
I intend to put up a second demo on youtube, probably around 10 minutes again. Stay tuned!
I thought the same thing after I was done with it! :p Glad someone else feels the same.VenusEclipse wrote:I could see the Earth Cradle theme as a nice outdoor field theme when you travel in an RPG. XD
I don't use a keyboard, as my keyboard skills are quite poor. I enter all MIDI data with mouse & keyboard.Do you play on a midi keyboard controller or do you just enter notes on the computer?

Demokratiya- (Adventure/Action) I'm kind of winging it with this one. Goal is 100,000 words. Yeah, it's gonna take a while.

For experience, and something to show on his/her CV is my guess.Topagae wrote:Why are you looking for work?
Nice music, I din't listen to the whole thing but I've heard enough to come to that conclusion. I think it would be better if you asked for a demo of the visual novel you've been asked to work on. Then run the demo to get a feel of the game. After that, compose music that you think fits with the game.
