Looking for an artist

#1 Post by LAXed » Sun Nov 21, 2010 2:59 pm

As stated above,we are looking for an artist or two for our visual novel project. It is set in modern times and is centered around vampires, but is something completely new and unseen before. The story has a very baroque feeling to it,and the music is composed by a professional composer and recorded in a high end professional studio. The software is itself written by a professional programmer and a programming student (university level) in Python.

I can't reveal more information here. But anyone thinking about signing up or who needs more information can PM me freely.

If you post no more information than this, no website in your sig, no blog, no DA account to show... really, I doubt anyone will interested (especially considering that you are a newcomer).

Well, that's kinda supposed to fend off people who would ask "will there be commission?" but ok.The information is the following:

The main storyline appears to be like this:

Present day,Amsterdam.Vampires have survived for long, but because of the ever-growing human control systems (police, cameras, registrations of citizens etc) vampires find it hard to both conceal themselves and survive.Needless to say, blood is difficult to obtain. In order to survive, the Vampires have grouped into Covens, each with a Leader (aka Lord) who represents their coven in the vampire society in Amsterdam. The main character is Althaias, one of the Lords who is,for no apparent reason, overthrown by a vampire that he has never seen before, known as Selain. The story appears to follow his quest to find out why he was overthrown,by who,and lust for revenge.

But that is where the story diverges from what we have seen with vampires before.I have laid out the settings in great detail, and intertwined the story with many biblical themes and references. In fact, the story is centered, though not " in public" around the angelic guardians of Eden garden and the tree of life.I can't give you more "details " because there are far too many of them. But if anyone is interested, drop me a PM or write here. And no,there won't be commission. If i was looking to pay someone,i would just hire someone from a company now, wouldn't i?

Providing information will not lead to people asking for commissions. It was pretty obvious you wanted someone for free, otherwise you would have mentioned money, it being the strongest draw card if you where trying to attract a stronger artist. That being said, if you have any intention of going commercial, the artist should get a slice of the profits. Otherwise, most artists here work for free on their own projects and other projects.

Details are important. With no monetary incentive, all you have to capture an artists attention and convince them to do many long hours of work is your story and overall project. Without giving out details, artists may not become interested enough to be willing to commit themselves.

You may want to give more details on what kind of art you are looking for too (concept, cg, sprites, background) as well as style. You may notice that much of the art here is manga/anime influenced. Is that good with you or not.

Like LVUER said, there isn't much to trust you on if you don't put yourself out there. You have no credibility in other words.

Oh boy. This was not gone about too well.

Agreed with auro...most people who post here are really looking for free artists, and will list a giant MONEY sign if they are looking to pay people. A lot of people here are nice and will work for free, but this was not the way to find them. =/
