How do some people get their backgrounds to be so pretty? When I try to make mine transparent (when make sprites) it leaves an ugly outline of white specks.

You need to save your sprite pictures as .PNG files with transparency if you have photoshop or an editing program that supports transparency.

1) work with layers
2) delete background
3) save as .png
