I always check Wikimedia Commons when I need images.

You need click carefully - they had a lot of commercial links from other sites, and when you see am image, make sure it is from THAT site, NOT from Shutterstock(!)

Well, it seems you need to browse the Galleries OR IMAGE TOPICS INDEX

The search doesn't work well, but I did get some nice pictures (bgs and a goat - really cute!!!!)
