Yet another question from me. Making a logo for your game.
-takes a sledge hammer to gimp and SAI-
I have no talent for this. how do you go about making fancy texts with pretty backgrounds and such. It eludes me completely and I'm getting highly frustrated.

Well, I think it is most common to make such logos on Photoshop or Illustrator.
On Photoshop you can create the text needed then add in the extra background to the logo.
I don't think that the logo is too overly important than getting your visual novel done, but it can be used to bring attention to your project.
Or if you don't have either or a program that uses text, you can hire a artist or something.

I want to bring some interest into the project cause I need some more help with it...
For instance someone to make backgrounds and logos fro chapters haha.
Maybe I should move this to the recruitment center.

If you don't have the budget/piracy for Photoshop, go download GIMP. It's fairly easy to find a decent font and filters to get something that looks how you want, but otherwise, without any sort of artistic ability, that's about as far as it goes.

I tend to use paint.net for changing things as well as good ol' paint. I use picnik for editing things such as logos and stuff as well. Using bits of your characters, flashy titles, backgrounds - can attract people. It's not necessary to have a logo, but I guess it's pretty interesting to use one
There's this as well here but I find it better for fonts and button making rather than logo making xD

When making logo, I advise you to use vector based program (Flash, Illustrator, Corel). Vector graphics will retain its quality no matter resolution you use in the end (unlike raster one). It's important for logo since you're going to change the resolution pretty often (some times big, sometimes very small).

Okay, welcome to the world of graphic design! Logo making, technically speaking, is a difficult thing. But most people just do their own thing anyway, so there is freedom to it.
What LVUER said is technically correct but not always applicable. Since it is unilikely that most VN logos will make it passed on screen, the infinite scalability of vectors are not always needed. On screen is always going to have a resolution of 72 dpi. So if it is more comfortable to create one as a raster and you are not going to print it, it should be fine.
As far as definitions go:
Vector: are based on mathematical equations that calculate distances and curves and so it infinitely scaleable. Programs are Illustrator, Inkscape, Freehand or Flash.
Raster: are based on pixels and so are not infinitely scaleable. If you try and make an image bigger, it comes out pixelated because it is only the colours of the pixels that have been recognised, not their relation to anything else. It is a good idea to make a logo large if you are going to use a raster. Programs are Photoshop, Gimp, Sai, Paint.NET etc.
I did a bunch of free raster logos a while back that are scattered around the forums http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... =26&t=8583
I could critique your logo if you like if you make one. Or if you have any other questions I would be happy to help.

I might be wrong, but I think SAI can't write font since it doesnt have any font related tools. SAI is purely for drawing, so i think if you want to make a logo with SAI, you have to draw everything (including the font) from scratch.

That's so nice of you but I have no talent apparently when it comes to graphic design XpAuro-Cyanide wrote: I could critique your logo if you like if you make one. Or if you have any other questions I would be happy to help.
