Any Good Reference for text box?? *u* or interface

#1 Post by YuukiCrossPudding » Wed Jul 27, 2011 11:46 am

I'm confused how to make a good text box for VN
anyone knows good reference? like the picture, position etc.?

maybe you know good VN with great interface? that'll help a lot! >A<
maybe the name or the VN screenshots?

since I'm not really good with downloading VN (with this crappy internet) so I don't have any reference orz
Thanks in advance~~

It sorta depends on what type of VN you'll be making... Do you want ADV (adventure mode) or a NVL (novel) based text box?

ADV is perhaps the more commonly used one with several key traits, such as having a small text box at the bottom of the screen, a border surround the text/frame or a fade gradient, a character profile picture, a name box and perhaps options dotted around the box.

This is an example of a NVL text box from 07th Expansion's "Umineko no Naku Koro ni".

Here is the ADV minimal text box from Key's "Clannad".

Here is an example of a more fancy text box...

Why don't you look at this site? They have tons of screenshots from visual novels where you can get references for a textbox.
Here's some fancy ones that I found that I thought were cool

Game design can be a pretty tough job especially if you want the layout to look professional...

Here's a couple of layouts, some from 2D > 3D's blog which has a couple of VN reviews with good screenshots.

The Saya no Uta one is perhaps better seen in action, though it's only for the first few seconds! Link
