Otome games set in college?
Most otome games I've ever played are either set in high school or in a fantasy setting. Not that I have a problem with the location (is still a high school student), but the only datable dudes are all teenagers and stuff. So as the name of the topic indicates, are there any games that are set in a college age environment? I'm just curious...

Date Warp's protagonist is in college, although the story itself doesn't take place on campus. (The guys vary. Some are students, some have already been students, and some are not yet students.)

I'm writing one right now. >.>;;
Also, Always Remember Me has older characters. It's not a college setting, but all the characters are past high school age.

Re: Otome games set in college?
There's some untranslated otome games with older lead characters. If you're interested, look for products such as Dessert Love ~Kare to no Hajimari~, Lovers Collection, Pretty Flap ~Chocolate Taste~, and Yume wo Mou Ichido. I got these examples from searching the VNDB, which will sometimes clearly state characters' ages. Also, reviews on sites such as White Butterfly and Otome no Policy (http://0t0me.wordpress.com ) usually tell you how old characters are.

College age+? Definitely my games. Actually being in a college environment? I think ... Venus (unbroken hours) might be writing one right now? Maybe it's high school (oops) but they seem mature.
An actual college date sim is something I'd really like to see done. It wouldn't work exactly like a high school one would, which I think is the major plus of it. Also, teachers are now in the dating pools and yes that does sound creepy when I say it but there are some young, attractive profs out there ... xD

Re: Otome games set in college?
I'm actually kinda working on a dating sim that has college students, albeit it's not particularly focused around college life. It's more about the drama that goes with relationships and the kind of freak accidents that occur in daily life. I've never really seen any VNs that focus on college life like the ones that are set in high school, so I was curious.Aleema wrote:College age+? Definitely my games. That's a commercial game, isn't it? >_> Still, I guess it counts.sake-bento wrote:Also, Always Remember Me has older characters. It's not a college setting, but all the characters are past high school age.

Re: Otome games set in college?
You guys who are writing/contemplating one, Thank You (yes, with capital letters), because I'd kill for a game with adults. (Adults that look like adults, mind you). I don't have anything against high school games, but I'm an adult and those years are behind me. I'd like something involving, you know, adults.
Also, isn't there a game called something like College Romance: Rise of the Little Brother? That's probably set in college. >x>

The Academy Daze series is happening in a semi-college setting, although the first one has a man in the starring role. The second and third games will star a woman
I'm going to get off my soap-box now, and let you get back to your day.

Indeed Summer Session and College Romance are both BxG sadly. I've been asked lot of times to make an otome game in college so eventually might make one for real

Re: Otome games set in college?
A little unrelated, but maybe for the same purpose: are there "Otome" games (can't really say the girls are really otome past this stage) where the datable are people in their 30's ?
Because I'm playing a BxG game with a MC who's nearing his 30s, with datable characters ranging from 17 to 33 years old. I was wondering if some GxB game like that existed.

Yes, like someone already mentioned, there are OL (office lady) date sims like Pretty Flap and Dessert Love, and the love interests do range from teenager to your super old boss (I'm talking grandpa old).yummy wrote:A little unrelated, but maybe for the same purpose: are there "Otome" games (can't really say the girls are really otome past this stage) where the datable are people in their 30's ?

Re: Otome games set in college?
Hmm. Seems like I won't have to worry a lot when I'm going to be a "Jiji" then
Somehow, I like the pitch from Dessert Love: As your OL life begins, so does your adult love life.
On a more serious note, these kind of games will really help me to figure out what pleases women (I mean what might be interesting for a female audience). I really lack field studies for that matter.

Re: Otome games set in college?
Well, like every game, it may or may not be good (I'm pretty sure these games were developed by men, too). It might be a good idea to check out reviews from women who have played it for their opinion on whether you can trust if one is good at, well, pleasing women. I've personally never managed to complete Pretty Flap or Dessert Love, but I think that might be the lack of translation, haha.
