hey im new to the world of programing the only language i really know is html for web design at the moment but im interested in teaching myself new things. so id like to know if anyone could give me a little information on what programs i would use for writing a game, where i can get the software, whether its freeware or i have to run to best buy or something to buy it, and where i can learn how to use such programs. thanks for the help

Well you can read the tips at LemmaSoft's page and naturally read all the threads in here - there's tips on writing, programs, art... just browse through it and you'll find them for sure.
