.

Hint: I would like to post a short synopsis of this German article maybe later in English. I will update this post when it's ready.

The online magazine "freiesMagazin" in German language has published today their November issue.

It might be interesting for some of you that they have a featured article about Ren'Py and that the article introduces some example games. The headline of the article means "Ren'Py as a developer tool for 2D games". It introduces the basic concept of Ren'Py and visual novels to an audience that is most likely new to this subject in general, but often highly interested in programming, Python and open source. The interest of the article focuses on creative possibilities to use Ren'Py and to become a game author. Also for non-visual novels (which might be also more familiar for most of their readers…).

As stated above I would like to post a short synopsis of this article later in English.

"freiesMagazin" is an online magazine that comes in a PDF version and two HTML versions (with- and without images). It may have around 10.000 monthly readers that are interested in Linux, open source, games, programming (lot's of Python) and adjacent subjects.

The magazine owns an ISSNumber that makes it possible to cite – and the article has been released under a Creative Commons license.

Cool.
Didn't know some people here in Germany are interested in VNs at all. *__*
<= I mean, there are some Germans here but still...
[There is still hope. <33]
Thank you for posting this. :>

Ah, the advantages of being Dutch :D~ Though I doubt I'll see anything like this in Dutch soon.

Anyway, that's pretty cool! The article itself was interesting too and nicely stated its references, I skimmed it a little. It looks like they also had a mini interview with Pytom haha.

Thanks for the heads-up. Really pleasant to see ones efforts validated by an article. (Man, MagBou and Loyal Kinsman having legs after all these years)

hehe, you are very welcome! :) It's great to know many languages!! I love yours, too… but I am not able to read more than just a bit ;)

Releasing the script of MagBou as open source as an example for others was maybe something great! :)

I'm actually in the process of having Break Chance Memento translated into German, haha. (the German version of the demo should be out this week) I didn't realize there were many German VN players until recently, either. We get a number of European visitors to our site daily and Germany is one of the top countries. :O

In any case, it's really cool seeing this medium spread to lots of different countries. I don't understand any German, but I think the language is really cool. Hopefully this article means more VNs might be made since awareness of Ren'Py is spreading. :D

[This thread kinda makes me speechless.]
That's just amazing. <33
I mean - hey - I always thought people here were only interested in... eh... Doodle Jump? :'D /shot
From all the people I know only one plays VNs. =/ Oh, okay, two. Er... good?

Thank you all for making my day. <3
And here I was really, really worried. D:
