How do I start?

Hi everyone. Yeah, I'm brand new here as you can tell. I've been interested in VN for quite a while and got introduced to this type of game by Tokimeki Memorial. great game... anyways, after seeing all these games, I want to try one myself. I was just curious if anyone could give me some tips on how to get started. I downloaded RenPy already and have played around with it a bit, but is there a better or smarter way to start out? Thanks for the help in advance.

Download the ren'py demo game and try opening this file in notepad

script.rpy

located in the game folder.

I learned a lot by just looking at the comments in this file.

There's a starting-out tutorial on Rio's site, too. From the second onward it's pretty practically oriented.
