Name for school?

I was wondering how would you call a school? I mean every school has either number or name. Mine for example called "lyceum №1". Japanese schools has it's own name (as far as I know) so, which possible name can school have?

Schools can really be called anything they want. A lot of schools are named after certain places (like the place they're situated in) or the founder of the school. Here in England a lot of schools are named after places or people. Some examples would be King Edward VI Camp Hill School (Founder) or Fairfax (Place).

Note: I haven't encountered many schools in England like the school that you attend. I guess it depends on where you live really xD

Basically You could even name it after yourself if you wanted to xD

It could varied from country to country... but schools in my country have names like these:
- High School Saint Aloysius -> you know him right, yup, the name comes from a saint. A Catholic school.
- High School Saint Angela -> Again, using saint's name. As you probably already guessed, this is a Christian school.
- High School Saint Maria -> Again...
- High School Tarsisius Vireta -> Again...
- High School Pasundan -> obviously, located in somewhere in Pasundan.

As you probably could see, usually name using a holy or important person name (deceased) or place name. This usually applies for private owned school (and indeed, examples above are all private school).

As for public school in my country, they usually use names like these:
- Public Junior High School 01
- Public Junior High School 02
- Public Junior High School 03...etc
- Public Senior High School 01
- Public Senior High School 02
- Public Senior High School 03...etc

It depends were you set the game. If it isn't set anywhere real, then you can make up a game and maybe let the setting influence you.

Religious schools here (Australia) are usually named after a saint or founder. Most public schools are named after the suburb or town they are in. American public schools are nicknamed after the district they are in.

It depends on where the school is located. Like a few have said - it can vary from country to country. I would check for some examples of real schools and base my name on that.

Schools can also be named for a geographic feature, such as Clear Creek Elementary School.
They can be named for a member of a school board (Ellison High School), or a retired general (Shoemaker High School), or a city (Harker Heights High School).

Or you could go with "fantasy" story high school names, like:

Soul Eater's Death Weapon Meister Academy (死神武器職人専門学校, Shinigami Buki Shokunin Senmon Gakkō)—"DWMA" (死武専, Shibusen) for short

Or Harry Potter's Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

I think Hogwarts is a town. So that's a bit ordinary name, like NY Academy of Art or something.

Hogwarts is the name of the school. The town neaby is called Hogsmeade.

Hogsmeade is more of a village.

Since there is also Hogwards Castle, I figured it might be a town name as well...

Apparently, the name "Hogwarts" is a name of a flower, that JKR once saw.

Wow... thanks for replies. I think I'll just use made up name based on place since the place isn't real. Or I'll just call it "school" =D
