I Googled it using Image Search, and the thumbnails alone weirded me out. Very much so. And these are eyes that have beheld much and come away unscathed. Since Wikipedia is down in protest of SOPA ( ) I will give my impression of what Narutaru is about based off a quick perusal of Google images: A gore fetish manga where Pokemon-type creatures sexually assault their owners? Cause that's the vibe I'm getting.

I think Wikipedia has been up and running again right now. They only shut it down for 24 hours, right?

(English) Wikipedia's still blacked out, but you can bypass it by disabling JavaScript.

Nah, that would just be squicky. It's much worse than that.

... Now, am I telling the truth or am I lying to tempt people into looking?
Honest truth: I had some idea of what I was getting into when I watched the anime (which, like Alien 9, covers only the first arc of the manga and then cuts off leaving practically everything unresolved). I was *still* disturbed. I have not read the manga, but I've read the synopses, because finding out what happened, even as horrible as it was, helped provide emotional distance from the events.

I also have no idea how much is in the official English release, since I've been told it was censored in several places and never finished.

Narutaru spoilers for the interested:
Image a sort of Pokémon beginning: Girl on a vacation finds cute strange animal shaped like a star that can fly and that she can use to surf/ride through the air. Girl soon finds other children that also own animals not unlike hers. Story revolves around the many happy adventures the kids are having with their new magical friends, right?

Lex Luthor WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!

Turns out that many of these creatures aren't only cute and cuddly but also frighteningly powerful - some can materialize weapons out of thin air that are capable of destroying tanks. Children are suddenly in control of frightening powers, and as you'd expect, they start abusing it.

Much horror occurs, and all the protagonists are between 11 and 17 years old. Two of the protagonists are a brother and a sister in an incestuous relationship, and entirely without any moral. Another is a shy, wallflower girl who is constantly bullied (in ways that are pure nightmare fuel) and one day snaps and uses her "pet" against her torturers.

It's probably one of the creepiest manga ever written, and it's NOT for young teenagers.
