...it's not the LoveRevo demo as well, it's not even a dating sim... but it is my shot at a creative advertisement for our project: Check out "A Day In The Life 2: Namiki's Story", which is a piece of interactive fiction (i.e. text adventure). There are no graphics and no sound because I suck at both, but I've given my best shot at introducing one of the LoveRevo girls to you: Namiki, our spoiled girl.

You can find the adventure at http://home.t-online.de/home/g.t.heinri ... i'sDay.taf . To play it, you need the Adrift 3.90 Runner, which you can find at ftp://ftp.adrift.org.uk/pub/adrift/adrift39r.zip . Don't expect too much of an adventure; it is all about mood and setting, and you'll get to know Namiki a little. There are two endings, both of which involve her leaving the house, but only one ending is a good ending. I hope it's not too difficult to find it.

er... what? Certainly doesn't - I wrote it in ADRIFT 3.90, and it works with the 3.90 runner. Maybe the path to DLing Adrift Runner is incorrect... I'll check this out. *edit*

First makeover to "Namiki's Story" - fixed a minor bug in her bedroom and included a Score system. Find all of Namiki's true passions and score!

I've gotta apologize, Taleman. I was the one who asked about the whole "I'm naked in the dojo with a shinai" question. It was a pain to catch any sort of clue as to what her grandfather would respond to, because no-one in the story hints to it. Well, I'm gonna play it again later, I have to study this play and get it just right, otherwise, I'm screwed...

I beg to differ. If you try to run past grandpa without saying anything, he will scold Namiki for not asking for permission. Well, "ask for permission" are just the words you need to get past him, and if grandpa doesn't like the idea, he will tell you why.

Ah the old guess the command style of game...that said I did manage to work out the stuff I needed to do to get the bad ending, but that's all I've managed so far.

Maybe I'll download the new one and see if anythings changed

Go easy on my. It's only my second shot at working with ADRIFT; for the next installment, I'll try to reduce the "guess the word" things to a minimum.

Sorry, I was just refering to the text based style of game in general.

I guess it's just that with words you don't feel limited to just picking one of 4 options, because you can theoretically type anything, but however theres no way you can program anything to react, so you might miss out on the responses you do get from asking the cook about food and dinner, or her mum about her father because you don't think to type it.

The same with doing things. Like the description of the mother says she looks like she could use some tea. Does this mean Namiki should be getting her one? If so how? There are many ways you could tell her how to fill the tea bowl, but none of the ones I've tried seem to work.

Anyway I'm reminded now why I moved onto visual game programming from text based QUEST a couple of years ago, but good luck with the next installment

As I said, I'm trying to avoid these situations where you have to guess what to type. Normally, if you're just using the objects you see in the text, everything will be fine. As for the "tea problem": I knew that most people are probably not familiar with the way matcha tea is made, so I just gave a description of the tin with tea powder and tools and a hot water boiler and was hoping for them to just type "make tea" ^_^

Heh. Believe me, paying me for the work would be cheaper than feeding me after you've kidnapped me. And I can't work on an empty stomach ^^

By the way, "Akari's Story" has its first bugfix. The score is no longer capped at 8 points - 13 points are achievable. The new version is available under the old address.
