Saving in Visual Basic Help

#1 Post by pikatung »

I'm the programmer for the Hearts on Paper visual novel game. Its been moving along nicely, and you can read more about it here...

But my question is How to I code in the ability to save games? I've only been using Visual Basic for about 4 months, so I'm no expert.

Simple explanation:
http://www.mvhs.net/~rkrane/vb/vblesns/ ... /files.htm

There's helpful info about saving complete with a dialog box for users to select a file name here:
http://www.vbcity.com/forums/faq.asp?fi ... mon+Dialog
(look near the bottom of the page, and you'll need to include the Microsoft Common Controls component with your project, of course )

Also, here:
http://www.officecomputertraining.com/v ... page24.asp

These sites seem very helpful with all kinds of sample code:
http://www.developerfusion.com/vb/25/
http://www.programmershelp.co.uk/vbtutorials.php

I wish I had some simple sample code to share, but my VB stuff is on my other computer 90 miles away :(

Good luck with the project! :D If you need programming advice, we're always here
