Is this concept to strange for an otome game?

#1 Post by TheSnowflakeOfDoom » Sun Apr 08, 2012 7:54 pm

Dating/Pursuing musical instruments, 'nuff said :lol: I'm new here, so this probably makes me look like some sort of creep hahaha! I'm not really though... X/ I would love your opinions on this Really kind of strange Idea,
Before you accuse me of taking pansexuality too far, let me explain:
Ochestra practice is not good, I admit it, my friends and I always wage shipping wars on our instruments (CelloXPiccolo forever!), and constantly disscuss what one is the most attractive (Bassoon, I think! :D)
We already started making the game, just for fun between us, but would you guys actually want to play a game where you date musical instruments? I mean, it would be light-hearted, and just for fun, but we would be willing to make it more intense (A darker plot, ext. And consider making human sprites!) if people would actually want play this!
That brings me to my other point, what instrument do you deem most "Attractive?" (Forget the musician, just the instrument ahaha!) And how would you personify them?
Ahaha! I don't know wether to take myself seriously anymore! Pfft....

I find it a lot less creepy and a lot more fun than... pigeons. I guess Piccolo is the shota? Is Bassoon the big, sweet type? The Grand Piano has to be the King, of course. And the first violin is the MC's rival and prima-donna of the orchestra.
Keep your script in your Dropbox folder.
It allows you to share files with your team, keeps backups of previous versions, and is ridiculously easy to use.

I don't think anything can be considered 'too strange' in the world of otome games anymore. xD;
I mean, just look at the immense popularity of Hatoful Boyfriend. Pigeons... OTL
As for which instrument is most attractive? Um... maybe the violin or harp? They both make beautiful sounds. I would imagine a personified violin to be a really serious and talented type of person {an all work and no play type of guy. Definitely needs glasses :)}... whereas a harp would be someone elegant and prince-like, maybe?
But wait... would we actually be dating instruments, or just human representations of them? How can you date an inanimate object? owo;;

Yay!~ When people other than my best friend and I heard our idea they were convinced we were mad (It's not my fault only my flute loves me :cry:) They were our ideas! The piccolo is really shota, and bullied (Ever heard the joke 'How do you get 2 piccolos in tune? Shoot one of them XD) The bassoon is the big sweet type (Quite a closet pervert though(I have many-a-personal joke between our double-reed section :3) And the rest you got perfectly spot on with our ideas~

Most attractive? The french horn. Because the timbre is just so that it sort of makes me melt. A french horn is kind and compassionate. You want to sleep on eir shoulder, feeling warm and safe. You want to pledge em your undying devotion. (And yes I did have a mad crush on a french horn player as a teenager, how can you tell? But my commentary about the timbre still stands.)

Whereas the oboe (Which I played) is an easily-overlooked geek with big glasses resembling Mousse from Ranma 1/2 (DUCK JOKE).

Band jokes usually involved the clarinets being ditzy, the saxophones being jocks, the flutes being (or at least thinking they were) clever, the drummers being stoned (not *really* but that sort of personality) and the trumpets being... completely incapable of playing. Wouldn't apply in a proper orchestra with actual chops :)

I guess X3 But it was the thaught of Inanimate objects tha made it seem 'going a bit too far'
Ooh! The violin (DEM CURVES *Dies*) could be like you said, with a viola being the complete opposite! (Although looking almost the same...) And the harp :D We didn't actually think about a harp... Hmm... Definatly wouldbe elegant and prince-like, maybe have some relation to the grand piano?
Dating them, meh, for a laugh, we used actuall instrument sprites! (Not our own instruments though ahaha~)

Mine was to the piano... for 3 days XD
Bagpipes! That's amazing!! I've always wanted to play them but then people would have even more reason to stereotype me...

My son says that trumpets should be really obnoxious. :D He's a flumpet player. He plays flute and trumpet so he had flumpet put on his band sweater.

And don't forget the cowbell!

the answer is no. don't even need to read your concept, it can't be too strange.

just watched a new anime about guns represented by cute middle school girls. there's already been a series about people being swords. there's nothing strange about instruments.

Oooh! The french horn is beautiful (Especially as a solo instrument, Mozart's horn concerto - The french horn in that is like OuO)
We couldn't think what a french horn would really be like, but that sounds adorable!!

Mousse-like oboe = PERFECTION! :D Now I need to convince my friends to make a duck pun somewhere X3

We tried to use alot of band stereotypes, but only some of them worked (Alot of the instruments' personalities are based of personal jokes, which happen alot :3) But the clarinet one stayed! (Some of us got fed up of ignorant people mistaking oboes for clarinets, so we made the clarinet the ditzy female who is ALWAYS there

Loud, obnoxious trumpets! (There's going to be so many characters in this X3) Ooh :D (That was my friends OTP, the flute and the trumpet! :lol:)
Oh yes! The poor abandoned cowbell in the corner, sitting by the glockenspiel!

That's good! :D We thaught people would be really put-off by instrument dating!

Can I be as blunt as possible?

I'd only play this if I was high as fuck a kite.

Good luck, though!

I would play this in a heartbeat.

So many funny possibilities for clarinets... Our reeds were always molding (sick, I know!!) and there was one girl who blew extremely hard into hers and there was always spit dripping out the bottom. We all loved the smell of the cork grease and would put ridiculous amounts on our corks. And there was the day I was cleaning my mouthpiece and accidentally sat on (and flattened) the ligature.... Oh, and did you know if you take the mouthpiece off the rest of it and blow into it, it makes a fun sound? Yeah! It really does!
