My estimated results based on people's posts (it was hard to classify some things so it may not be 100% accurate). A / is used to separate every 5 votes and people voted for multiple settings:

original - |
modern day - ||||||
existing country or exotic - |||||/||
sci-fi - ||||
futuristic - |||
fantasy - |||||/|
steampunk - |||||/|||||/|
victorian - |||
Cyberpunk - ||
(post-)apocalyptic - |||
peaceful areas (villages/towns) - ||
historical - ||||

Holy crap, steampunk is popular.

Also, I added a vote to peaceful areas, because I think such settings would be so cool if combined with another element of that list. Think of the setting Aria uses, or some cute, pretty and peaceful fantasy village. My heart is melting~

edit: added the ones from Ergressus and Tentacles too below (was asked to so might as well do all).

I guess a more accurate thing to call what I want to vote for, is Dystopian.
I develop horror romance interactive comics. Currently working on my first.

The majority of us can't draw steampunk, so don't you worry.
It's just that the clothes have the details of Victorian dresses PLUS intricate machinery, and the backgrounds will be hell to draw.
Like all things gorgeous, it's outrageously hard to get right.

If I have to go with one setting, I'd choose modern day (as in recent past, present and near future, give or take 30 years period).
Mainly because it's not as hard to research, but I like normal, everyday things, I guess. You can change while maintaining a sense of familiarity.

Historical and steampunk are gorgeous all right, but it can fall apart pretty easily.
