I started at 8-9 making IF games in basic for the good old commodore 64. When I write such things I realize how old I am

I think I tried making a card game when I was 8, but actually programming... I feel so behind the curve. I remember looking at RPG maker when I was 15 and never bothering (I still haven't had a chance to try it yet...).
(All projects currently on a hiatus of sorts. I blame life.)

Not really checking the forums any more due to time constraints, so if you want to contact me, PM. I'll get a notification and log in.
Also, I've been hit and run posting, which means I don't see many replies. If you want to respond to something I've said, also feel free to PM me.

NOTE: if you've got questions about vnovel or things like that, it's Leon that you should be contacting. Leon's been pretty much handling everything, but due to various reasons, I've had to withdraw entirely.

I never knew I could make my own game until I was maybe 15-ish? That's when I discovered Ren'py, anyway.
That's also when I tried to make my first game, a BxG game that will never be touched again [it was shameful... or is shameless the better word...]
First game was completed at the age of 18 :3

I used to make DBZ fangames and silly RPGs on RM2k when I was 8. I've made a handful of incomplete, unreleased RPGs over the years. Since they were on my old laptops, they're pretty much gone forever. :D I didn't mess with Ren'Py until high school, but I didn't do much with it. I spent a few months writing a couple games, then didn't pick it up again until late December, early January this year. I'm 19 now. You're never too young or too old to make games. :)

I think around 12 years old or something I discovered Novelty and played around with it. At that time I hadn't known much about Internet so I had no idea I could find a bunch of free sprites and background online. Plus my English was suck at that time (I didn't learn English until... Last year) and Novelty only allow you to write in English. (Well, maybe foreign language too if you know how to...)

I stopped using it for a time until 15 years old I returned to Novelty and this time I hooked. (My computer skill now is way better)

Now I'm 16 and almost turn 17, I still love Novelty but I prefer Ren'py over it. I only use novelty because of the transition. When I want to make a real visual novel with choice and option, I choose Ren'py.

First game was probably in 6th or 7th grade on an Apple IIe, learning BASIC. It was a text game. I was in love with Infocom games at that time and trying to make my own.

I think quite a few people here started extremely young, actually. This kind of stuff is in their bones.

I did EarthBound hacking back in the day, which was my first real coding experience, and it was in Assembly. I was 15 or something, I don't know.

I guess I'm one of the oldest here, although I think the older crowd are being a little cryptic about their ages.
I'm 33, and I started working on my first game this year.

The #renpy IRC channel is a great place to chat with other devs. Due to the nature of IRC and timezone differences, people probably won't reply right away.

If you'd like to view or use any code from my VN PM me. All code is freely available without restriction, but also without warranty or (much) support.

Nah, there's older ;) I know for sure that some people are in their 40s (no names since I don't want to be rude >_>). If you're curious, there was a thread asking for when users were born, and PyTom did a little data analysis on the ages of active forumgoers- whether or not it's accurate depends

Well... I've already been messing around with Visual Basic C++? (eh.... I forgot that program), when I was 11. And I've also been messing around with Flash when I was maybe around 12 or maybe it was 13. I've been trying to design games with it, but I got bored so... Meh.

Anyway, I discovered ren'py and LSF when I was 16, I also released my first ever VN that's so crappy, I wouldn't want anyone else to play anymore at around the same year. I'm 17 now and I'll most likely release a game before I turn 18 on September. (It's not MDLS, by the way. XD)

I'm older than you :P.

Being cryptic comes from the fact I do not want one iota of my personal info or stats online.

In person I'm always happy to say exactly how old I am.

So it's really just security paranoia. Just like never putting my actual birthday in anything online...even Facebook. Google keeps asking for my mobile phone number, and they'll never get it, gosh darn it!!!

I'm only 31 and I know BASIC.

Unless you know COBOL and have used punch-cards, you're not truly old. (if I keep saying it, I might even start to believe)
