In the end, no one gets judged, no one wins or loses, this is a challenge and the only prize you'll get in the end is your own finished creation and the satisfaction of beating the challenge~ So people do this challenge more for themselves, right? My point is, no one will kill you if you've been preparing for this, thinking concepts in your mind, or doing sketches or writing drafts or even if you've been making some official art for your project. If you think what you've done so far is wrong and completely against the rules, then ok, scrap that work, do something new. But I personally don't think that keeping a background, a sprite or two, a few written words, is that bad, these are minor things and as long as you do the rest of the work during March and you release the game during that month, and as long as you're satisfied and you feel that you've completed the challenge, then you have, haven't you? Just be fair to yourself~
Correct me if I'm wrong, that's just what I've noticed for the years of stalking this amazing project. >.<b
I really plan on joining this time, but I'm still not sure with what. I have a couple of ideas in mind, but I don't know what would be good to make. ;w;
Yes, the entire point of this is a challenge for yourself. There is no panel of judges other than the usual group, which is people who will be playing your game.
To put it bluntly...

Two days left until the start. I hope everyone is ready! I'm thinking something wacky and crazy is in order for my work. Something faaaaaaaaaaar off the edge of insane.

I'm in, although I'm not going to be playing by the rules, because I'm using this as a motivation for completing something rather than a pure challenge. So there is some stuff written already, and some art done. I did debate doing a 'pure' Nano game, but it would just suck energy out of the existing project which needs to get done. Maybe next year I'll be in a better position to do something completely original.

The fact that others are debating with themselves about having some early work/planning done makes me feel relieved - and solidifies my desire to do the project I've been sorta working on~ So, yay. I've been stalking this thread to see who might need an artist, but nothing has caught me. Might as well do something I know will have my interests in mind, right...? ^^
I think there's always the option of giving full disclosure about the beginnings of the project if the ethical side is bothering you. Say you completed the game for the challenge, though not everything was done in a month. :>

I relocated the WIP: NaNoRenO forum to the front page for the next month or so.
WiP: NaNoRenO is something of a mix of the WiP and Ideas forums. People can post their NaNo game while it's still in the idea phase, under the anticipation that it will become a proper work in progress in very short order.

I think I have an idea of what I want to do, so I think I will enter as well. Maybe the deadline will give me the incentive to actually finish a project.

I'm throwing my hat in the ring. Like most people, I just have a random idea...but I hope it's simple enough that I can finish it in time.

Definitely going to be in it.
It won't be the most original story, but it will be a story none the less.

Started getting obsessed with dating sims again (hush, they're my favorite type of VN) and went looking for new releases on renai.us and englishotomegames.net. Ended up in the forums, saw the clock, and have been thinking to myself that I really need a push to get back to working on my projects... The biggest hurdle to me is being too intimidated to start learning to code. So this could be the push I need.
My intentions are to work solo and on a very simple dating sim so I can learn the ropes.
The great thing about stumbling across NanoReno means I can start a fresh project and won't have the time to let feature creep frighten me out of doing anything at all, which is what has happened the last few times I got to start working. If you don't hear from me with even a WIP by the end of the month, you know it happened anyway. Because I can take a "tiny", "simple" project and make it into a monster within minutes. It is ridiculous.
Urg.
Actually, tea sounds like a great idea.
[edit: I a word.]

Oh bless you lol. Tea sounds wonderful... I think I'm going to be extra nice to myself this month so I can work to the best of my ability. XD
