I like "multipath VN" and "linear VN"... or maybe, we can drop VN from these tags, and just call them multipath and linear.

I'm not sure what the right solution to the Maker dilemma is, when we can have multiple makers.

I really want to keep romance split up by the relationships the game contains. Unlike today, a game would be allowed multiple tags, so it could be romance/GxB and romance/GxG at the same time, for example. But we're the Ren'Ai archive, and even as we expand, I want to keep this connection to our roots. (And in practice, this is a useful way of classifying our largest category of game.)

Great to hear that! Though perhaps leaving VN in will underline the site's focus, plus should new categories emerge from the [hybrid/other] pool, (like [sims]), it would be easier to make them independent, since "sim" and "VN" in the gameplay category are more logical than "sim" and "multipath".

Fair enough. So would it be okay if it was something like this?

SORT BY [5]: name, maker, release date, age rating and playtime.
FILTER BY GAMEPLAY [3]: multipath VN, linear VN and hybrid/other.
FILTER BY GENRE [?]: romance/BxG, romance BxB,... mystery, drama, comedy, horror,... + more if necessary
FILTER BY SETTING [3+]: contemporary, fantasy, sci-fi,...+ more if necessary

I think those are an okay set of tags, although it's not clear that we want "comedy" and "drama" tags quite yet, or that we have any games that really count as "horror".

I think we want to throw "school" into settings, since IIRC we have a number of games set in school-type environments.

Yes, we should create categories as necessary.

That's a good one.

Well, we probably have an agreement then. Looking forward to the redesign :P

I've made a few changes as suggested. And this time, you can see it live. And no, the side-bar purposely hasn't been changed since you guys are still debating. n_n

Sidenote: there are some slight things that are off when viewed by a different browser. To be exact - Firefox and Explorer. Any others, I don't know how it would look.

Well, the sidebar looks much nicer now. Maybe the home | submit | FAQs could be aligned to the left, it's more intuitive IMO. Other than that, I'm fine with it. I'm sure there will be slight suggestions and tweaks, but generally this is very nice.

About the colors, that pink is a bit too pink (bright). I like the light brown + light yellow + dark red. :P

Code: Select all

border: 1px solid #844;
Try that for #left. Border now appears on Firefox.

As for the right part, is IE or Firefox right? (100% width or not?)

Thanks for the info, monele! I've updated it and it now shows properly in Firefox. Strange it doesn't recognise the other form. :|

As for the width - at 100%, it shows properly in IE but over-extends in Firefox. At 78%, it'll show short in IE but show properly in Firefox. This is a slight cosmetic look that irks me but just as long as it shows properly in both, then it's okay. Unless you have a suggestion I can try...? ;)

The border attribute is a mix of border-width, border-style, border-color. These only take one argument. That's probably why.
What you did would have worked if border was a mix of border-left-width, border-top-width, border-right-width, border-bottom-width, etc...

As for the width thing, I'll see tomorrow ^^;... *tired*

Just FYI, the renai.us site is showing a Server Error message: "The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there was an error in a CGI script."

It's been like this since Friday afternoon for me.

That was weird. The process was running, but not actually working. Anyway, it's back up now.

Chinese fonts usually are monospaced. (Since that makes you able to do ASCII-arts, or in our case, GB2312 or BIG5-arts.)

An assigned font would be so good.
No, I don't like Ren'ai games.
But Ren'Py is not only another Ren'ai game Engine.

Two questions for the RAA:

- technical/admin: in the news section, the list of entries is "oldest first". Could it be set to "newst first"?

- when can we expect the new design?

Thanks.

Hackity, Hackity... done.

When I get a chance to make the backend changes required to support it. There isn't a firm ETA.
