font issue

Is it possible to use the font, "MSGothic.TTC", in Ren'py without it glitching?
Here's a screenshot of what's currently happening when I try to use it:

Unless someone can track down why it's glitching and give me a fix, the answer is "probably not".

I've always found .ttc to glitchy. Whether it be the MS Gothic/Mincho, or Mikachan.

I suggest you locate an alternative font that is not in a truetype collection (.ttc).

I've noticed the same problem with this font with things that use FreeType for text displaying (ONscripter for example). I'm not sure about Ren'Py, but I'm guessing this is the same or a similar problem.

I'm not sure about all the technical stuff about it, but apparently the reason it does this is because of the embedded bitmaps in the font not being dealt with properly.

One way to fix it is to strip the font of it's embedded bitmaps. Another way, which I have not tried, is to hack FreeType to ignore embedded bitmaps altogether.

I'd say just get a free font that you can legally distribute.

It shouldn't be an issue if you are using a OpenType font, or a TrueType font. Those collects seem to screw up.

And instead of MSGothic, go for something like Mikachan.
