In other news, renai.us has broken the 1 gig transfer mark for the month... the first month for which it has done so.

Bully!

Update Or not. lemmasoft.renai.us passed the 1 gig mark... renai.us has been way over that for a while, pushing 6 gigs.
I may be responsible in part for the lemmasoft.renai.us bandwidth thing... (I come here at least once every day it seems  )

eclipse wrote:And at this rate, maybe someone will overtake your leading domination in ren'ai releases... ;D
With 2 more games (see post)... that 2005 champion is you

Although the total domination is still Muto Anime's territory, even when it's really hard to say how many of those games were actually finished, as he rarely gives info away. And yes, it seems that ever since The Tool appeared, the games just keep on flowing. Seriously, I am really excited to be a part of it all!
Chronoluminaire wrote:And while I couldn't possibly say yes or no, I will tell you that "Muhahaha" does appear somewhere in the script...
I'd be disappointed if it didn't! 8) World domination is within our grasp! I'll check back at 10p.m. central European, hopefully you can release it by then, else I'll have to dream that furry cat & one-eyed bald man behind a desk full of missile launch buttons dream.

No way! You've got something for this fall or winter, surely?

You're right about Muto - he's got 9 games... Hmm, no problem! By the next two years, you or I will overtake the guy, hands-down! And since he hasn't released anything new recently - it'll be a cinch. 8)

It's definitely exciting and I hope everyone will always push their creativity! You know, considering everything, we're pretty much in the forefront of Western ren'ai games... O_O

Have I gushed about that program yet? The reason why I didn't start this project years ago was because I didn't have enough grasp of coding to make it work, but now I'm experiencing a burst of creativity because the tools are at my disposal. I really should thank PyTom for making such an excellent tool.

Heeeey, that was MY quote

eclipse>> Winter? It's really hard to predict, if nothing else, then Marry Me Misa 2, but that's not a game. For now I am just relaxing, TT was fun to make, but really stopped all the other activities I wanted to do. I have a bigger update to the encyclopedia to make, I'd like to write an article about NaNoRenO for manga.sk, as well as a few non-manga things, like creaming the guys at the next karting race (actually, it's a bit off topic, but we started our karting season with two races (both of which I won, braggie-brag), but on the second race, my gas pedal got stuck floored and the brake was doing 50% at best, so i had to drift the kart by shifting weight onto the steering wheel, which cost me so much power, that while victorious, I had no power to climb out of the kart and worse - I strained my forearm muscles so much, it hurt unbearably for 2 days when I was clicking the mouse! - and YES, this was NaNoRenO week!!), so I should be back doing games in about a month or so.

Muto is really cloaked in secrecy, I asked him once and after a good while he replied, but nothing could be learned from that reply. I heard a person who actually played Together Forever say it has really bad English, but it's hard to say, because that was not one of my sources. His forums are basically dead and so on. I was wodering if you (as Ren'Ai Archives) ever considered asking him for any of his games, since some of them may be freeware or so (Anime Casino is, but that's hardly a ren'ai game - that would actually make 9-1=8 games), but as for me, I am always careful with Muto. Still, I believe that those games existed, but no screenshots, no nothing, it's hard to get answers.

That's true, although it's the Ace Ventura principle - we are the best because we are the only ones ^_^.
Umm, not exactly, but close. There are many indie projects, many well-meant flash projects and several other web collaborations, but you're right, none of them seem to complete their undertakings.

Alright now, enough self-glorifying (for now)

You don't plan your games in advance? That's interesting - I always thought you did. But anyways, congrats on your victory and good luck on your next race!

lol ...You know, this almost sounds like one of those local legends.
"No one has ever gazed at the mysterious Muto. Those who dared to contact him were met with no reply but those few who did... were given cryptic messages to ponder... To this day, no can say for sure what is Muto's plans..."
Hmm, I've never considered asking him about the freeware. Thanks for the idea - I'll ask him!

Great, now you've gone and inspired me.

"Gather 'round, young ones, and hear the tale of Muto Anime, the fabled ren'ai game maker.

It is said that Muto lives at the edge of the world, in a castle of his own design, and is waited on day and night by all manner of stereotypical anime girl types. He drinks only Ramune soda (http://www.sodaking.com/product_info.ph ... cts_id=641), eats only Ramen and Men's Pocky (http://www.glico.co.jp/pocky/pocky/mens.htm), reads only shoujo manga and watches only shoujo anime.

His games, lost to the rest of the world, are locked away deep in his great ren'ai fortress and, though it is rumored that he has forged even more since his seclusion, none have as yet been able to see them. It is rumored that those who gaze upon them can never again play ren'ai games, for they have no equal in this or any other land.

Those with the tenacity and resolve to reach the shoujo castle find themselves standing at the edge of a deep moat teeming with incredibly attractive but vicious mermaids. Those who attempt to gain entrance, usually by flying over, vaulting, or scaling the walls, quickly find themselves whisked back to the opposite shore by no less than two shapely, scantily-clad magical girls. And, should they fail more than thrice, a stereotypical "bad ending" girl awaits them at the opposite shore, to chase them away from the castle forever.

Perhaps, one day, the world shall hear from Muto Anime again, and bask the interactive wonder of his ren'ai perfection. Until that day, many will try, and fail, to learn of his great plans. But do not lose heart, young ones... one day, there will be one who is invited into the great ren'ai palace.

And that one... may just be you."

Life is hard.
Except in ren'ai games.
Then it's a whole lot softer.

I do. By hard to predict, I meant I am not sure which game I will do next (that is after the Summer project).

I have plans to do... wait a minute...
*deletes following all-revealing lines*
Since NaNoRenO is over, I should be back to my more secret self. ^_^ 8)

Anyway, if something new about Muto comes up let us know!
*sits to hear another story in the meantime*

I just dropped a bit of prose in the NaNoRenO thread, if you're interested... another unintentionally inspriring sentence triggered a bit of free verse.

Enjoy. :)

Ah, neat! Spontaneous bursts of storytelling, verse, song, dance, etc are always fun.

Drat! So close to finding out~! Oh well, it'll all come out eventually. Anyways, I should get back to my reserved self as well... 8)

Btw, I'd like to remind (or inform if you're new) everyone about the mascot images at Ren'ai Archives. The character images on the upper-left-hand side rotates and what better way to promote your game? We accept submissions for it provided it's an original character - preferably from a fan-made ren'ai game (read: your ren'ai game). More info and the template is found here. Thanks!

Hmm, it seems there is a new avatar from GSK! A decision which made me particularly happy.

So... is there an official avatar policy?
Like one character per game... (wonder about Amatire though...) :D

Hmm... I remember playing Muto's Memories back when it was available for download. It was basically like Tokimeki Memorial, but I found it fairly buggy. I dated one girl pretty much the entire time, but ended up with a girl that had asked me out once and whose phone number I had never gotten. Otherwise, it was a fun game, particularly since at the time there weren't many other choices for English non-h renai games.[/quote]
