Sites To Make Music On?

#1 Post by ColaCat » Wed Oct 15, 2014 1:57 pm

Recently I've been looking around in the creative commons for some music to use in a short VN I'm making (nothing serious, just a chance to muck around with some coding ><), but I couldn't really find anything right.
So I figured I could have a go at making my own, but then I realised that I didn't actually know what sites/softwares the composers used.

So for any composers out there, what do you use to make your tracks? And are there any online/free sites for people like myself to use?

I always recommend LMMS. you can make awesome music (electronic though) right out of the box, so to speak. and it's free ;)

if you want instruments like piano, strings, clarinet, etc etc there are plenty of high-quality soundfonts to be found for free on the web too.

have fun!

By the way, what kind of music were you looking for?

I'm guessing you probably checked out my music already; I try to be as diverse as possible when composing, so I'm really interested to know what I was lacking.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! It's nice to know that there are free sites to make stuff on. Now I just have to open it >< .

Yeah, I checked out quite a lot (not all, because there are just so many!) of your music. I particularly liked the repository.

I'm not sure exactly what I was looking for, I guess I just had a tune in my head and none of them sounded like it. Something slow and calm, almost like a music box tune (you know, the ones you wind up?) and with a slightly sad sound.
A tune that sounds a lot like something that would be in a little kid's music box, they always sound sad, yet happy.
I liked a lot of your stuff but none of it quite hit the mark (okay, now I'm being fussy...)
