Good Places to Put in a VN Taking Place in the City

#1 Post by TheEpicKnot » Thu Mar 12, 2015 1:29 pm

I'm creating a VN taking place in a city, and I was hoping for suggestions for locations to visit. I have a generic business building, a bookstore, a bank, and a hotel. What other places would make good locations?

Cemetery, Parks, Gas Stations, Grocery Stores, Back Alley, Museum. It depends on the city, but you could also do other features like Bus Station, Train Station, Beach, Lakes, Riverfront. What about a Gym?

So many good suggestions! I was thinking of a museum already, but none of the other ones even occurred to me. Thanks so much!

House of worship (church, mosque, synagogue, temple),
police station,
fire station,
hospital,
amusement park,
picnic area.
All of my VNs are at http://wolflore.net NOTE: Downloads are now working.
Some are at http://www.the-new-lagoon.com. NSFW
Poorly done hand-drawn art is still poorly done art. Be a Poser (or better yet, use DAZ Studio 3D) - dare to be different.

Streets, streets and streets again. The characters have little to do but talk while they are walking from point A to point B (from workplace to subway station, for example) and you get to show some nice city backgrounds. Advertisements, architecture, cars and so on are a really quick way to show that this is eg US, and not Japan, Russia or South Africa. Way better than saying "It's a typical Japanese high school..." right after 'label start'
Also if it makes sense plotwise to put characters into a car, you get an interesting way to make this torso-above-text-bar VN thingy look like an actual shot and not just visual novel trope.
