Initially I thought the above post was going to deal with what Jason would consider to be a good VN, but it mostly deals with his views on good comedy, whether in an anime, manga or VN.
Writing for comedic effect is, I think, much more difficult than anything except writing to cause a sense of awe. More than drama, more than suspense, to create genuine and lasting comedy is a difficult thing. I agree completely with the idea that it is well written characters and a shared history that makes for the best kind of comedy.

Comedy is hard, but rewarding. I just love games that really make you laugh. Good humour is something that's not very common.

I think I'm good with comedy. In some of my stories, when 2 people get into an arguement, they start talking trash about each other's mothers with the infamous "yo mama" jokes.

Hmm, from how it seems, Heart's Content will only be a manga instead of a visual novel. That sounds like a bad news...
