Renpy files blocked by chrome

Heya !

I tried to download a renpy game and chrome blocked it.

After that I tried to download my own game on mediafire since someone reported me my files were see as a virus and seen taht chrome blocked it too...

I know you can bypass the block but is there a way to lift the game block?

Someone else have this problem ?

ya this has been a google problem for quite a long time. the list of untrusted downloads from google include mediafire, game jolt, pirate bay, etc. the only site that google hasn't block is itch.io, you can upload your game right there and you can even hide your game from users.

It surprised me because my files wasn't blocked in the beginning but maybe it was just a matter of time before it was...

This is just a safety measure in Chrome. I don't know specifically how it determines whether a file will be considered "unsafe," but if your game is blocked from downloads due to a virus report on Mediafire, then you'll have to address it by contacting Mediafire, I would think.

You could turn off Chrome's Safe Browsing feature in Chrome to avoid this from happening in the future.

Load chrome://settings/in the browser.
Select "show advanced settings" at the bottom of the screen.
Under Privacy, locate "enable phishing and malware protection" and remove the checkmark from the preference.
This disables all phishing and malware checks in the browser.

If you rely on those, it is better to keep it turned on considering that this impacts other security features such as phishing protection as well.

I use separate phishing and malware protection.

Or use a different browser.
