Hehe. Funny how a simple typo can derail a thread XD (it's okay)
I used to work with a french dude and he said my french was surprisingly good. I didn't believe him though :p

But I read it as: moh-neh-leh.. which sounds like jibberish to my swedish self and that's prolly why I swapped the syllables ._.
Moni works. It's easier for me to remember and cute ^_^

That's the point ^_^. Sorry for steering the thread away from its original topic for a while :)

Another (small) progress update:
* I've added page-transitions. It's a typical "duh"-feature that I never got around to implement, until now. I've made about 30 different transitions so far. Simple stuff like crossfades and wipes and I'm experimenting with some 3D transitions like turning pages etc.
* I've updated the GUI to display thumbnails of all the pages. Someone requested this feature before but I wasn't sure how to do it. I figured it out a couple of days ago (while working on the transitions). It's really helpful when navigating a novel.

Looks wonderful. Don't want to pressure you but do you have any idea when you would be releasing this?

The renderer is using DirectX and it's techically a 3D engine. I'm only using 2 dimensions but I could add support for 3D models if I wanted to.
Hi Sin,

Your VN engine looks fantastic from what you showed here. I've noticed what you wrote in the old thread about having the possibility to add support for 3D models, being a 3D artist myself, and wanting to create my characters in 3D I'm curious if you are still planning to add that kind of support, or if it's not the case, well at least I'm letting you know some of us out there would be very interested in this kind of feature. Good luck to you man !

When it's done!(tm) >=D
Seriously though, I'm working hard to be able to release a alpha version soon (not beta since "beta" would suggest it's feature complete). Before I release anything I need to implement a list of must-have features. Transitions was one of them. Coming up: ability to play sound effects, ability to undo/redo changes, asset import wizards, etc.. (do you see now why I'm holding onto it?) :P

Thanks. 3D models is something I definetly want to experiment with in the future. Animated 3D characters would be a really nice addition to the engine. But now I'm only focused on getting this first release out the door.

I have nothing to add to this. I just can't wait to work with this program.

I meant to ask this a while ago - is the art on these latest shots yours, or from somewhere else?

No it's not mine. The one in the screen above is from a game called Stella deus (PS2). I've ripped other art like backgrounds and stuff from other VN games.
I use them only for creating test projects. By using the tool myself and creating small games I learn a lot about how it really feels to use it. It's a great way to find bugs and kinks in the interface, but I don't necessarily draw new art for them.

I won't include any of it when I release Novelty but I will create at least one character myself (I can draw pretty well) and I'm in talks with various other artists to produce more stock art. Most of what I've used is readily available on the internet anyways.

I realise that I'm probably about to derail your thread gain, but I have to congratulate you on such a great haiku. Is it okay if I use it at work?
