Making otome game/visual novel trailers
You know how when someone puts their game up on steam and they have made a trailer for it?
What type of program do people use for that and how do they get all the transitions and effects and stuff?
Out of curiosity in case anyone knew.

Any good video-editing software can work. Think about Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects or even Sony Vegas.
Artist and voice actor, trying to actually write stuff.

Re: Making otome game/visual novel trailers
the best free one is called VSDC free video editor: http://www.videosoftdev.com/free-video-editor
unlike many video editors with its one picture fits all, VSDC is Non-linear meaning you can move the pictures around like in Adobe After Effects. its also easy to use, just a simple google search can help.

If you want more flexible and flashy Adobe After Effects is a good choice (especially with plugin such as optical flare, etc)
If you just want simple transition, character slide, simplier alternative is Premiere or any open source video editor

Re: Making otome game/visual novel trailers
I am a professional animator and motion media producer, and my main tool is Adobe After Effects. I've found it has more range than Premier (at least in my experience), and is more user friendly. I definitely recommend it for video compilation, as it is easy to layer and move assets such as text, sprites, and sound.
Ultimately, learning to use any video editing software takes time and dedication. You likely won't learn it overnight, but with the help of some good tutorials and exploration of the tools, you'll find your way there.
