Drawing anime with a mouse
Does anyone do this? I can't really draw that well so I think using a mouse is really hard. I know it's somewhat possibly but still... Does anyone just draw with a mouse on a program and then put the lineart on top and go from there? Does anyone have any examples of art done with a mouse?
Re: Drawing anime with a mouse
I do, but I don't draw the actual lines with my mouse, I use vectors.
... ok I do use the mouse to paint lines with but only for small details e.g. eyelashes, scratches. I try to avoid using doing this as much as possible though, because I can't scale them perfectly like I can vectors.

If we are what we repeatedly do, then good coding is not an act, but a habit

Re: Drawing anime with a mouse
Oh. I just call that lineart...ing? lol XD I've tried drawing with the pencil tool then going over it with that tool. It's still hard
Re: Drawing anime with a mouse
Well, I'm not drawing it with a pencil tool, I'm using the pen tool to draw vectors/paths. I then use the graphics program to draw the line for me along the path I've made.
Perhaps this will explain it for you: http://youtu.be/g7fNK2Sdqko?t=9m13s

Re: Drawing anime with a mouse
Oh I know what you meant. I meant that I try using pencil on an art program before using the pen tool. Because then I have a shape to follow. Because I'm not that great at this stuff.
Re: Drawing anime with a mouse
It's honestly really hard on your hands. I used to do it a lot when I was younger and didn't have a tablet, your joints hurt even if you use vector tools.
If you're aiming for really clean lineart, vector tools are your friend, but they are super nit-picky, depending on the program you're using. Using any of the free drawing pen tools makes it hard for really clean/smooth lines, but it is possible.
I'd suggest drawing it out on paper at first, scanning/taking a good photo, and then drawing over that digitally, if you want to use vectors and don't have a tablet or anything.

Re: Drawing anime with a mouse
Oh yeah, I've definitely found out the pain the hard way lol Which is probably why I'm going to have to always have an artist on board with me in future games. I can't possibly use custom content for every game ever.
I used to be able to be somewhat decent at drawing anime but I lack the patience now and my hands are really shaky now. I'm willing to put the time into programming and gui and such but just not drawing because I'd have to get good at it all over again

Re: Drawing anime with a mouse
Hi! Create anime with only a mouse has many advantages if you know how to use them I will talk you a little about my experience.
The first thing you should take into account: What program to use. in this case, I use Photoshop; Vector graphics are very nice, but not exactly what we look for when creating AnimeStyle art, you can think that the design possibilities are very large, so I'll leave some examples of results that can be obtained with these methods
The tool that we will use to color, making strokes and most things is "pen"
With this tool we can mold the way we want to do
Clicking on the middle can create curves
You can fill and create the line in second click options
The consistency of the lines are a double-edged sword, so it just needs practice to make it right, but the result is great
(This is a good example of the almost-vector graphics that can achieve)
If I'm not explaining well, it's because I find a little hard the English, but remember these bases

And yeah I've used the pen tool a lot. I just usually give up.

Yeah, that's a good example of how to get work done with Mouse with good color balance and resolution.

Re: Drawing anime with a mouse
Try to save up for a good digital drawing tablet like a Wacom It's really a slow slower if you use a mouse and it just feels more natural with a tablet pen.namastaii wrote:Does anyone do this? Re: Drawing anime with a mouse
It's possible to learn with a mouse and you'll always use the mouse occasionally, even if you get a tablet.
But, really, if it's at all possible for you, find some way to get a tablet. It will save your life and your hands.
I've done a TON of vector mouse drawing, I have a portfolio somewhere...

A significant portion of this was vector-mouse. You can do it.... it just sucks.
I know they're not anime, but almost all of these were vector-mouse. (And using OpenOffice, no less.)
