VN title trouble

#1 Post by Mama J » Mon Aug 08, 2016 10:50 pm

Hey, you guysss; (text-heavy, sorry, it takes me some time to get to the point)

Ok, so, I'm about to start my freshman year at college and I've been so busy that I haven't been making as much progress as I want with my projects and it irks me so. Therefore, I'm making it my sole duty to try to find motivation and time and energy to keep on goin'.

The thing is, my teammate kind of disappeared on me, and I have no other brain to pick other than my own; I can't bounce ideas with myself because I'm incredibly indecisive, it's bogus. (If you're looking for a VN studio thing to work with or be a part of *cough* I'm right here *cough*.) Where am I going with this.... Oh, yeah! So, since I have nobody else to brainstorm titles with, I figured, "Why not ask the wonderful people of LSF to help me?"

The point: I'm going to start working on this one project that I already have a very vague plot for. I can't (for the love of God) think of a title for it. I know, I know, "Why are you stressing over a title???" See, I really can't move on with a project until there's a solid title; I don't know why, I just can't. The overall idea of it is that it's going to be a sort of "Holiday Special".

Basic idea thing:
The MC has never believed in myths and the legends of holiday characters. However, one day, she stumbles upon something (idk what yet) that puts her in a position where she meets said mythical creatures. She meets: Santa, the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fair(ies), Leprechaun, Cupid, and Dracula. To her surprise, they're not what she expected they'd be; because they're young -- and hot -- and real! And together, they go on an adventure, and things happen.... I know what you're thinking -- "That's not even a fleshed-out plot yet????" I understand that, and it bothers me, too. *insert excuse about not having enough time because of missing teammate and panicking about college*
So, yeah. Finally the overall point of this post is: I need help coming up with a title. And since all of you are extremely talented, what do you think this kind of story should be called?

(If you read this far, you're a trooper. Here's [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅5̲̅)̲̅$̲̅])

First off: shout out to fellow Texan right here ;-)

Ideas off the top of my head:

1) True Myths
2) My (or Character's Name in possessive) Holiday Special (I like the original name idea you were going with)
3) Gift Wrapped with Love
4) A Kiss For All Year (or Year Long Kisses)
5) Calendar Kisses

(btw, isn't one of them already married?)

Please do let me know if these helped.

Heyyy, Texas represent!! (lmao)

"My Holiday Special" sounds too basic, don't you think? Like, it doesn't stand out or anything. I like Year Long Kisses and Calendar Kisses, though. Those sound like something that could work. Thanks for the suggestions! (:

And, yes, haha, originally Santa has his Mrs. Claus -- but in the story, I'm planning on making them siblings and people who came up with the myth got it wrong so he's had to live with it. Or maybe his mom? And his dad could be called Mr. Claus. Like, his name in the story isn't going to be Santa Claus, though. I'm planning on making him be called Nick/Nicholas because of the original Saint Nick legend. So yeah :)

  • Holiday♥Lovers
  • Love Saints
  • Fairytale Boyfriends
  • There's No Way These Childhood Fairytales Can Actually Be Real!
  • How And Why Is Santa Claus This Hot???
If I'm being serious though, I would recommend taking on a smaller project before you start on this one. It sounds ambitious as I'm assuming each of the listed characters will be obtainable. Let me be straight up with this: it isn't worth it stressing out over gamedev that it begins to affect your academic life. Gamedev can wait, but college assignments? Not so much.

I'm really digging Holiday♥Lovers, it sounds pretty frickin' perfect! Thanks for the suggestion (:

And yeah, I know that doing a smaller project is the better and more sensible thing to do but (for some reason) I like to drown myself in work and tend to bite more than I can chew... It's unhealthy as it leads to stress and "pull-my-hair-out-itis" but I can't seem to keep myself away from the big projects. I don't have anybody to steer me in the reasonable direction and keep me in check so RIP my grades. In all seriousness though, you're completely right. I just -- with my teammate disappearing on me yet again -- there's been nobody to share and collaborate ideas and thoughts with. So, I go off course and do something that could sink my education, haha... Anyway, thanks for the advice. I'll definitely try my damnedest to not let gamedev affect my academics negatively.

The plot is genius.

- Holiday Gangbang (sorry again)
- Gifts of Love (jesus im so bad pls kill me)

Is it? Ahh, thank you, hehe.

Gee, there have been a lot of incredible title ideas here wowow. How are you guys so amazing!! But I'm laughing at Holiday Gangbang -- in a good way! It's cute and light-hearted, so I'm adding that to the list (:

And thank you, again, the plot has been my brainchild for a while now -- having trouble developing more of it, though, yikes! Plus, yes,
Santa's going to be hot; I mean, who DOESN'T want to have Daddy Christmas as their lover LMAO (((;;

I'M CHOKING :lol: Unfortunately, it's not an adult VN but I'm definitely going to keep this title in mind if I ever make another Christmas/Winter-themed story ((;

Thesaurus is my #1 go-to for titles. I came up with the title of my VN that I'm working on by simply thinking about the themes of my story/plot and trying different words instead of basic words. It helped a lot. In terms of your game, I first have to mention that I love your idea! It's quite the interesting concept. Anyway. on to titles. These are the random titles I came up with by simply playing around with words and themes and whatnot. Some of them are stupid, I will admit, but hey, at least I'm trying. =P

*Scandalous Festivity
*Whimsical Myths
*My "Nonexistent" Boyfriend
*An Unreal Romance
*Not Just Imaginary
*Your parents lied; they ARE real!
*Ha! Next You'll Be Telling Me Pigs Can Fly!
*I Must Be Hallucinating...
*A Figment of My Imagination or Just A Really Hot Guy?
*Objectifying Mascots
*A Fool's Paradise
*Holiday Daydream
