How are IntRenaiMo and NaNoReNo different?
I'm not even the same person anymore

It depends who you ask, apparently!

The difference I'd read somewhere was that NaNoRenO was the challenge to produce a game in a month, while IntRenAiMo was the simultaneous finish-your-already-started-project-in-March effort. I think I'll start calling it InViNoMo just to be awkward. ;-)

Anyway, I can't remember if I hinted about my project at all, but I decided I wanted to do a better job of that idea than the month would allow, so I dropped it, and now I'm trying a different one in the remaining three weeks instead. Ren wants me to make it porn.

Are you actually going to draw the porn this time, or is it just going to be lots of stairwells?

It's not my fault you can't get turned on by stairwells. :P

Well, it would make a lot of sense, and better still:
InViNoMaMo - Int. Visual Novel Making Month
InViNoReMo - Int. Visual Novel Releasing Month
That would be logical.

But, I think the non-meaning of NaNoRenO is a nice piece of history when it all began in a sort of hey let's do this way and then it turned into this kind of successful event that gets by with just an informal forum thread and still does its job every year... that silly name has that enthusiasm and spontaneous spirit in it. So I'd suggest we keep it - though we can mock it every year for how it doesn't make sense, which is also a nice tradition :P

InViNoMaMo does roll off the tongue nicely, though.

The more syllables it gets appended to the end the more it makes me think "in vino veritas", though. :3

I howled at this one. I'm not sure what was actually funny about it, but can someone link to that project? I want to read steamy descriptions accompanied by stairwells.

(The last 2 CGs for SIN were a river, a field, a sky, and face icons ... you can't just do something on a default black background! =_=)

It's not much a visual novel without pictures, now is it? I mean, at that point, you may as well throw in the towel and join the Interactive Fiction competition every year. (Which rocks, by the way)

Status update:

MorningStar Zwei is behind schedule but I'm making a push this weekend to catch up on the dialogue. Currently we're up to 17.5K words and 282 ellipses. One-and-a-half of the four characters written, more or less.

(For reference, MorningStar was 41K words and 1244 ellipses, so while our word count isn't too far behind where it should be, we're horribly short on ellipses. This shall have to be rectified.)

My favourite visual novel of all time has a 25-30 minute section that consists entirely of text on a black background.
As long as your entire VN isn't like that it should be okay!

Yay preview:
Image

I have the whole thing planned and outlined, which has allowed me to work out that I have 3 of about 20 backgrounds, 1 of about 17 event slides and 3 of about 15 character sprites done. And 2000 of probably I guess maybe around 20kwords? Which would be terrible progress if I hadn't only started last Tuesday.
