What kind of tropes do you really like/use?

#1 Post by Fang-tan » Sat Apr 04, 2009 5:49 am

Which are your favourite tropes? Either ones that you like popping up when you're reading a VN or ones that you like to use?

Currently the most identifiable in my WIP are Break the Cutie, Yandere, Earn Your Happy Ending, Immortal Immaturity, Love Makes You Evil,
Set Right What Once Went Wrong, Tsundere, Cast Full of Gay, Romantic Two Girl Friendship, Theme Naming,
and these three are, arguably, most important: Groundhog Day, Crapsaccharine World, Be Careful What You Wish For. That's only to name a few, heh.

So? Now I want to see which ones are obvious in your VN's story or relied upon heavily. Just try not to get sucked into that site, okay?

Too late, got sucked in already. It's among my favorites.

I don't know. I use those tropes as a inspiration but the product might not have even a tint of it. So if you want me to classify them I don't think I could or would.
I suspect somebody is stealing my internet identity so don't believe everything I tell you via messages. I don't post or send messages anymore so don't believe anything I tell you via messages or posts.

I usually get tricked into heading there. I'll waste hours just reading.

I wish I could produce a result like that. I'm afraid those mentioned would come out painfully obvious in my work. Ah well I mentioned them so they'd already be sort of obvious. .___. In any case, browsing around that site always manages to give some inspiration, so it's all good in the end.

The first time I found that site, I just had to keep reading and I ended up getting my eyes sore from staring at the screen for almost half a day...(@_@)
But as mentioned, it's good for getting some inspirations.(^w^)
Back to the topic, personally I like Took A Level In Badass. If only they used "Fate/Unlimited Blade Works" route instead of "Fate/Stay Night" route.From what I hear, it was better...

Tsundere ChildhoodFriends are my favourite characters, so it's no surprise that the heroine in common between Elven Relations and Mermaid Liaisons is both of them.

I like all sorts of tropes. Looking down my MC1 list and choosing those that lend themselves most to TVTropes:
* MadScientists
* Benevolent but enigmatic good guys (TheDumbledore)
* LargeHam theatrically inclined bad guys
* VillainProtagonists
* HiddenDepths
* Identical twins
* StrangeBedfellows/ EnemyMine
* XanatosGambits
* TheRashomon
* UnreliableNarrator
I released 3 VNs, many moons ago: Elven Relations (IntRenAiMo 2007), When I Rule The World (NaNoRenO 2005), and Cloud Fairy (the Cute Light & Fluffy Project, 2009).
More recently I designed the board game Steam Works (published in 2015), available from a local gaming store near you!

Normally I really hate Tsundere but I think it makes for a great character if it isn't as annoying as Louise. Taiga won me over though. <3 But that's pretty offtopic. XD
