Ideal width and height for image sizes?

#1 Post by NadOtavlas »

Whenever I try to inplement character images into ren'py the images are either too big or too small. What is the ideal height and width for the image files?

What resolution are you using?
If you're creating a game in 1920x1080, and you want your characters to take roughly half the screen, then aim for around 540 pixels high. 540 is half of 1080 - the height of a 1920x1080 game.

Yeah like Imperf3kt said, it depends on your screen size. For bg's just make the canvas the same size as your console screen. Even drawing characters I make my canvas the same size as the screen also so you know exactly how it's going to look on screen when you add your sprites in. Helps alot.
Hope that helps ya :)
