It seems like a lot more people here are doing commercial VNs, dating sims, portals and so on now a days. How many here are pursuing it? And are you on track to a release?
This is part curiosity on my part and partly for listing it in Ren'ai Games in a future post. If anyone here knows of other small developers working on VNs or similar games, I'd like to know about them too. Thanks! :3
How many people are doing commercial projects here?

1 here. ETA: 2010, if it will even exist at all.

I don't have one started yet, but I did go to your Ren'ai games site and I just wanted to say that it had some great advice/tutorials on starting out. Much like Lemma's site. Great work! I'm glad to see there's a healthy English community for dating sims and visual novels.
If I ever get something off of the ground, I'll let you know.

I'm working as programmer in a commercial Visual Novel/RPG project, and we plan to release it this year. We've made fairly decent progress at the time, and the programming is almost done (though, I'll rewrite the entire battle system, but now that shouldn't get me that long, maybe a week or two I hope)

Thanks for the heads up Samu. There seem to be a few there who expressed a commercial intent.

What's the name of your game? Any website available?

I'm glad to hear it helped you out! I've been considering adding some commercial links, articles, and other related things since there seems to be a lot more people interested in going that route.dstarsboy wrote:I don't have one started yet, but I did go to your Ren'ai games site and I just wanted to say that it had some great advice/tutorials on starting out. Our team continues working on our first project Scelta ( http://vnproject.org/scelta ), revised estimate is at least a story arc (Anna's) completed at the end of 2009 and another story arc completed every six months afterwards (Scelta has five story arcs). Progress report/recruiting thread in this LSF is located here: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... =16&t=4305 .rioka wrote:It seems like a lot more people here are doing commercial VNs, dating sims, portals and so on now a days. Commercialization only if we deem the end result is worth it though ^_^;
