[CLOSED POLL!] Winner: MAKE A RYTHM GAME!

#1 Post by gas »

Thank you guys, the verdict is on!

I WANNA READ TUTORIAL...

Vote "A": RENPY RYTHM GAME
My efforts to create a customizable Rythm Game Engine with stage editor included.

So, probably tomorrow I'll begin to debate about. The tutorial will be mostly about CDD (Creator Defined Displayables), Sprites (they aren't the same thing!) and structured coding.

As a note: english is not even my third language and while I'm able to proficiently translate everything, I'll beg you indulgence for my prose (I'll try to be exquisitely plain, anyway).

I like A and was planning to make such a thing one day myself.
B seems too similar to the cookbook DSE, reinventing the wheel basically
C could be useful, but might not appeal to enough people to make it worth your while.
D seems to be the best choice though, but will take a loooooot of work.
Warning: May contain trace amounts of gratuitous plot.

B will be cool, since i saw a post about DSE, i think it needs improvement, and i don't think that post is still working, but i'll love to see a new engine about dating functions. So i'll vote for B!
I am a friendly user, please respect and have a good day.

I think I've already seen a lot of tutorial for B, but never for A, so, I'll vote for A.

Though C seems interesting. I don't know if I'll use it, or even if I would understand it, but I'm certainly curious about it! (I vaguely know what it is, but I don't know how to use it, and how to use it efficiently in a VN) But to be honest, I agree with Imperf3kt, I don't know if a lot of people would be interested.

D is so vague it's difficult to say...? I would be interested in tech trick and time saving advice, though.

I would definitively be interested in C. I've got basics in POO but never know how to use it "in practical"

Heyyy!! wow these are gonna be soooo interesting!!
Though C is a really good pick I do recommend to some new aspiring Ren'Py people to learn...

My vote is !! A!!
Rhythm Game!!
please I'm out of ideas trying it on my own

whahahah
for context, I've only ever got to make RPG mechanics, traveling like in GBA Pokemon, and Turn-based combat.

so yeah this was my next thing to try, for a friend's game and I've been stuck.

C sounds like the broadest most usable bet for the forum

As a number of you are giving mixed opinions, I'll try to decipher your intentions by splitting 4 points by user statement.

Catecholamine : C (4 points)
Zankizuna: A (3 points); C(1 points)
Korova: C(4 points)
Elsa Kisiel: A(4 points)
IsobelleSophia: B(4 points)
Imperf3kt: A(4 points)

So far...
A: 11 points
B: 4 points
C: 9 points
D: the poor D got 0 points

Regarding D, I was hoping to do a comprehensive tutorial one day myself, so just put my vote down for only A instead.

I think my vote would be more like: A (2) C (1) D (1). =p

I think the problem with D is that is difficult to know what it will really be about...? What would be covered in it?

"A" would be the most interesting, but you mentioned you were already working on "B" as an extension to the existing DSE. "C" sounds like a continuation of the "How to manage data in a useful way".

Ah! I'm torn!

I think I'll vote "A" Rhythm Game.

By the way, you might want to take another look at the first post. The grammar is wacky.

Build the basics first, then add all the fun bits.

I vote for B, I think the many of the reference materials in the forums need an update for new users like myself.

What is a Rythm Game, it sounds interesting though.

Thank you for your hard work, Gas!

My vote would go to D, gonna attract more people, especially younger generation!
I am very proud to be a part of this generous, nice and friendly community!
but please, don't go around telling people that their work is somehow off! thats not how critique works!
